Defensive Line?

Does anyone else believe that our defenseive line is outstanding? Landri and Laws in the middle seem to stop the run so well, especially Landri. Abaramiri, is just a machine out there if hes not double teames its almost a guarenteed loss on the play.

Honestly it depends on who we were playing when you watched them play. Certain games they look top notch, others well not so much. I have always liked Landri, man is he quick off the ball, think it was during the AF game they showed him spot shadowed and he literally beat the ball to the QB on the snap one time. Laws has been solid and they make a pretty solid duo. Abiamiri, I don't know he seems so up and down sometimes, I heard he was suppose to be sop improved this year and they he just got shut down by the tackle from GT in the opener. He has a lot of talent and he doesn't get much help on the other end so they can't double him but I have seen him disappear in some games this year. Overaall they are a pretty solid group, outstanding might be a bit of a stretch,IMO.

if you think our d-line is outstanding, i would love to hear what u think of LSU's, Oklahoma's and Michigans d-line. I agree NDBCS, I guess if you have watched our d-line against the acadamies, i would agree. But against UCLA, GT, Mich, Purdue, our d-line didn't bring any pressure on the qb, without blitzing. However, i would say in general they are above average against the run, way, way below avg on pass rush.

I'm the first to defend this defense when it's being unfairly slagged, but there also ain't nothing "outstanding" about any part of this D either.

I agree with the above consensus. Average. Not terrible, not outstanding. Average.

When we are playing teams that we outweigh by 40 lbs per man...it's a great line. When we play teams in the top20...it's not so great.

It's a pretty average D-Line...and they give most opposing QBs way too much time to throw.

I think Iron Machine is spot on in the sense that it is outstanding compared to what we have come to expect from the Dline at Notre Dame of late. I can't remember the last time we have had two Defensive Tackles this good. As far as the Defensive end position Abiamiri is a very good defensive end and a first or second round draft pick. The opposite side is obviously a step down. When you talk about those schools in the south, sure they have some talent on the d-line but its overstated due to the superb athletic ability at the DB positions. Our boys have had very few "coverage sacks" this season.
