Unless ND is the 'home' team at their bowl game, this will be the last time Quinn wears the blue jersey. It will definitely be the last time he plays under the watchful eye of Touchdown Jesus.
I'm going to miss him. He is, as Weis says, all day tough. Both physically and mentally. This kid spent the first two years of his career on his ass. Pass protection wasn't important to the previous regime. And he got pounded. There were bunch of times he could have just mailed it in but he kept fighting.
He has one the toughest jobs in all of sports. If you don't think so, just consider that over the last two years he has comp. % around 65%, thrown 61 TD compared only 11 ints and QB rating north of 150 - all that and he still gets critized for not hitting recievers in stride.
When ND canned Willingham he hoped the replacement would be 'just like him' (or words to that effect). ND hired the anti-Willingham. A lot of prima donaa QB would have sulked and brooded their way through the next two years. Instead of turning his back to Weis, Quinn realized an opportunity and digested most of an NFL playbook in about 6 months. He then went on to set all sorts of passing record reinforcing Weis' genius tag.
Weis gets, and has earned, a lot of credit for ND's turn around. But without #10, I don't think Weis would have had nearly the sucess. He is the engine that drives this team. He will be missed. If you don't miss him now, you can bet your ass you'll miss next September 1st.
It is also pretty apparent that he is a good and decent person as well. Even minus the football skill, if my son grew up to be like him or my daughter married someone like him I'd consider myself a successful parent.
Gonna miss #10.
