Check out the Pats tonight.
This is what I believe Charlie wants to develop his teams to play like.
The offense is well on the way. The defense will come.
Any skill player who doesn't want to play in this style of ball, offense or defense,
is making a big mistake.
If you (potential recruit) think you can 'ball'...then prove it at Notre Dame, in a pro-style format.
Then, if you PROVE you can 'ball'...your ticket is pretty much punched.

"Welcome Sir,..we've been expecting you. Go right on through."

Just to follow up...

Just to follow up...

4 wide receiver sets.
Quick throws in the flat.
Quick dumps to the tight ends.
Play action screens.
No-huddle offense.
Quarterback seeing, recognizing and changing calls at the line.
Look and sound familiar ?

Recruits....the New England Patriots play;
Linebackers as halfbacks and tight ends
Wide receivers as defensive backs
Defensive ends as fullbacks
Starting halfbacks are returning kicks

In other words, if you've got athletic ability Charlie (and Belichick) are not afraid to use you anywhere on the field.
I don't know about you...but if I'm a football player, that intrigues the hell out of me !
I mean how much fun does THAT got to be ??

Already, we've got a linebacker (Travis Thomas) running for touchdowns out of the backfield.
Tight ends playing defensive end (Will Yeatman)
Outside linebackers playing pass rushing defensive ends (Maurice Richardson)

I can see Chris Donald getting goal line carries.
I can see Greg Little blitzing off the edge.
I can see Steve Paskorz or Harrison Smith in the slot on 4 or 5 wide formations.
I can see Summers-Gavin as a fullback leading Armondo Allen across the goal line.

There you go recruits...if you've got skills you might see the whole field.
Now I ask you...How f***ing FUN would that be ?

I have no idea what that means.
Is that laughter?
It reads like a gaggle of giggling girls.

Son, I get serious. I get comic. I get sarcasm. I get hyperbole.
All I get from you is smart-aleck. I hate smart-alecks.
Welcome to my 'ignore list' where all your comments are silently and completely disregarded.
Congratulations

Well, no, you don't. I await your next unnecessary "bump" with bated breath. You are just about the worst poster I've ever read. Oops.....you can't read this, can you? I'd reciprocate with the ignore feature (Who knew? And why bother visiting a message board?) but I've gotten far too many chuckles from your posts in the few short weeks I've been actively aboard.

NDAlum Son. I totally agree with your initial post. I believe Coach Weis is a hybrid of Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick and has taken what he feels is the best [football] attributes of each in formulating his plan to return Notre Dame football to the pinnacle of college football. He uses Parcells' methods and their New Jersey persona in dealing and motivating players and Belichicks' football strategy and the Patriots' (Belichick and Pioli) organizational skills to build his program at Notre Dame. As fans, we have to be realistic and realize that, based upon the state of the program before he took over, its going to take time. Perhaps more time than many of us who have been so overly optimistic that they were unrealistic as to how formidable this task was. The good news is, no one outworks Coach Weis and his staff ("In the pros, each team gets one Number One draft choice each year; but in college, if you are willing to work hard you can get 10 [or more]) and once he gets the program back to where we are used to having it be under coaches such as Holtz and Paraseghian; they will be a perennial Top Ten team. All we have to do is be patient!

The similarities between the two teams are glaring and beautiful to see.
You're right...it's going to take a little time and good things will happen to those who have patience.
