#2 Michigan wins ugly, 17-3, versus lowly (and I mean lowly- NW lost to MSU last week, who just got pasted by 40 by Indiana) Northwestern. #7 Auburn appears likely to escape against Ole Miss, a horrible team, with a 23-17 win.

Michigan holding at 2 would be acceptable, but if Auburn holds at 7 that's a joke.

if Auburn doesn't drop, then it's a little obvious. I still doubt they drop though. I don't think UM should drop though.

UM should not drop. Their D is crucial. Auburn should drop, but they probably won't. They are not a Top 10 team. Of course, the SEC is tough and you play in hostile environments all the time. Yeah whatever.

I still don't get how Auburn is ahead of Florida. I know they beat them, but it was at home on a lot of freak plays and questionable calls; Florida's loss is that fluky loss to Auburn, Auburn's loss is a blowout to Arkansas. It just doesn't track.

I agree...

UM played tough and held NW to 3 points.

Auburn "escaped".

'Nuff Said.

First of all, a 17-3 victory is pretty comfortable if you'd asked me, much more so than Nd's nailbiters this year. Furthermore, our defense allows us to win game even if our offense disappears. Despite the fact that we haven't blown out our last 3 opponents (as if we have to do that), we haven't trailed in any of those games. Also, if you care, today's game was played with 30 mph winds that died down when NW had the ball in the 4th quarter. Carr wanted to sit Hart and a lot of other people out, and was reluctant to do so. This isn't even a debate. You shouldn't even think about Nd leapfrogging Michigan or WVU at this time, because it will be a travesty if it happens.

As for Nd's ranking, they won't jump Texas, Florida or even Auburn. Navy wasn't good enough of a victory. Tennessee and Florida will jump Auburn, but I think Auburn will edge Nd out for 8. USC will probably follow Nd at #10.

My personal Top 10 is as follows:
1. OSU 2. Michigan 3. West Virginia 4. Texas 5. Louisville 6. Tennessee 7. Florida 8. Notre Dame 9. Auburn 10. USC

You certainly won't hear me slagging a 17-3 victory. Holding any opponent out of the end zone entirely and only giving them a field goal is impressive any way you slice it. And yeah, they only scored 17, but that's 13 more than they needed to win. For what it's worth, Michigan holds at #2 on my "ballot."

But, uh, Vv?

There is no right way to rank all the 1 loss teams (even some of the undefeated). I'll use that as an opportunity to call for a playoff again.

I didn't see much that impressed me at all this weekend, but the bottom line were victories for scUM, Auburn, Florida, Texas and Tennessee.

Sadly, USC could not defeat Oregon State. Should ND end up winning that game, it wil be against a "weaker" SC team. I don't see them beating Cal. Having watched the tape of the game last night, OSU had some success throwing to the tight end. I give SC credit for getting back in the game. I knew they would. I've been saying all along they would not be undefeated vs. ND. We'll see how they handle this adversity. I think these guys they have are living off of the last three years.

Ohio State rolled, as they should have. Any loss they incur this season is an upset.

Auburn and Texas BOTH moved up and no one lept them...nice...
