There is no fight of our lifetime, or if there is, it's not this, it's something more philosophical. How many terror attacks were there in the US before 9/11, when there was relatively low focus on these things, and relatively lax security, and Afghanistan was still run by the Taliban? How many deaths? 9/11 was unfortunate and shocking and made for good copy but it was
a) a freak thing, a fluke; literally, a one in a million shot
b) not that big a deal in actual, concrete terms, in and of itself- ie loss of life, destruction of property; this is as compared with normal wars and battles
Terrorism is just the latest political crutch. It's more a PR construction than a legitimate threat. It's a threat like communism was a threat.
It a twisted and deranged way this actually makes sense. I kinda feel the same way about the kkk and the religous right? All four, communism, islamic fascism, kkk and religious right have an ideological/superior belief system. Either you're with them or against them. I'm sort of with ya dude, though you are likely to take some flak over this.
