the PSU qb did look good, and we have no pass rush. this is gonna be a tough game. during the OSU game CW tried to put a man on Hawk every play, it didnt work so great. now we have PP to deal with..(kinda funny). hes not alone, their stacked at LB.

how do you think we can bind up their strong points at LB?

they lost Hali to the NFL, but they 2 big seniors on the DL. After they watch the GT film, their probably coming full boar on BQ. dont let the stats fool you either from that game. the reason they only got minimal rushing is because they put 8 in the box and dared the QB to pass, and it backfired.

how do you think we should defend their offense?

GO IRISH!!!

p.s.= take it week by week and get a W, thats all i care about.

I wouldn't put 8 in the box very often, but I would bring 6 every play. I'd zone blitz, corner blitz, safety blitz. I'd try to confuse the new QB.

He looked good, but he only completed 50%. I think we can rattle him and that's the approach I would take.

Did the PSU QB scrammble? I know Ball did pretty well. I think we have a pass rush, they just didn't do a great job against a mobile QB. I didn't see much of the PSU game, so I don't know if he is mobile or not, but if he's not, I think the pass rush will be fine.

From what I saw of the game he isn't real mobile, pure pocket passer. The first long TD pass was good but is a pass that should be made with blown coverage. Some of the other passes were also to wide open receivers on 15 yds out paterns. All in all if you take away some of the first few passes of the game he would've been under 50%. However he does have an above average arm but hopefully ND will rattle him.

I have watched the ND-GT game for a second time, this time not in a room full of screaming people.

I'm not Kirk Herbstreit, but I am going to guess that the defensive scheme was to limit Ball's running ability as much as possible. The front four, and seven really, weren't playing to rush the passer. They looked as though they were containing the runner.

Morelli and Henne are passers. They aren't threats to run like Ball is. Let's see how they scheme these guys before we toss the pass rush out the window or down the toilet after one game.

don't remember the exact stats, but wasn't he 16 for 32 against Akron? He did throw for 3 TD's, but 50 percent against Akron isn't very good., Quinn completeded a much better percentage against a good D1 program.

We faired well against non mobile QB's last year, it was the mobile QB's that gave us fits(Stanton, Smith). Leinart until the 4th and 9 play was only having an average game, Henne was shut down last year, the only pocket passer that hurt us last year was Stanford's Trent Edwards and his backup(can't recall his name) but even Edwards was sacked 8 times that game, secondary just played awful that night.

Morelli is a non mobile QB(some say Jeff George clone, huge arm, no brains, and no legs), playing behind an inexperienced oline, and with only an average RB(we should have no problem containing him, no excuses) and on top of that playing in his first hostile envirnoment as a college QB. I like our chances very much.

I have said this before and I will say it again(as I am sure many others have as well)...mobile QB's kill our defense. Weis and Minter know this. If you don't think so look back at the Fiesta Bowl tape. ND defense had no chance of stopping Troy Smith, run or pass.

So Jigga, As usual I couldn't agree more.
