Kind of shocked I did not see a thread about this show. I know it was on at a odd time (Middle of the afternoon my time) I got lucky last night and saw it was on and set the TIVO. Was great to see Ms. May get all bent out of shape during the ND segment. He predicted 9 wins. Reece Davis was nice enough to point out that was better then the 2 he picked last year! Lou got a little animated too and predicted the Irish would have a top 25 defense. He said he didnt want to put to much presure on the team and only picked them to win 11.

It was a great show just to get your blood pumping for Saturday.

ya i thought there was going to be a thread on this a little bit sooner. dont really remember the national championship predictions that much but i remember i think it was lee corso saying miami would beat notre dame in the national championship. Then someone else predicted Cal to win it. all i know is that this is wide open.

The tO$U guy Kirk actually had Miami beating ND for the title. Corso had Cal beating WVU and Ms. May had Texas beating WVU.

can't believe WV is getting way too much credit and rewarded for an extremely easy schedule this year, or so it looks. They only have one really "tough" game when they play at Louisville. Other than that, they should easily cruise through the season. And "experts" say ND's schedule is soft. Why reward WV with a top 5 pre-season ranking for a soft schedule? Just a tad irritated by that.

Actually, Herbstreit predicted the Irish to lose to Miami in the title game. He seems to be the only one on there with a level head on his shoulders. Corso was dumb enough to pick CAL over WV in the title game. Good call Lee, and look out for Ball State to make the Sugar Bowl.

what does he see in miami that others don't? I don't understand it myself with the ass whooping they took in their bowl game, the multiple suspensions of top players on offense and the lack of offense last year. If miami gets by Florida State I'll be shocked. Its a bold prediction to have them playing for the national title, but he's as smart as they come in college football. I just hope that he gets the other half right in his prediction. I would love to see Auburn and ND play for the title, what a kick ass game that would be!!!

You are absolutely right. If they run the table AND two other teams only have ONE loss...WVU should NOT go.

Here's their schedule (and the opponents 2005 record) for everyone's reference:
Marshall - 4-7 in MAC
E Wash - 7-5 in BigSky
Maryland - 5-6
E Carolina - 5-6 in C-USA
Miss State - 3-8
Syracuse - 1-10
UConn - 5-6
Louisville - 9-3
Cincy - 4-7
Pitt - 5-6
S.Florida - 6-6
Rutgers - 7-5

Some one please explain to me how they can even be considered...isn't one of the factors strength of schedule???

I cant believe I am about to defend Ms. May but both he and Curso said when they picked WVU that they had a favorable schedule and if they got past Louisville they would be in the title game. But, they also both earlier in the show mentioned that a possible one loss team could get past them do to their schedule.

I know the BCS changes their system every year but I still think strength of schedule plays into it. So if WVU is undeafted but has a low BCS rank they may be in the BCS (Big East Champs) but just not in the Championship game played by two possible 1 loss teams with tougher schedules. Which the BCS process would actually work since the 2 "best" teams would play not an undeafted team with a "easy" schedule.

I think Herbstreit is the only credible source on the show. Corso clearly has lost his mind. Mark May is basically an older, fatter version of Steve Urkel. Herbsreit is the only guy that saw something special developing at the beginning of last year for ND - Corso and May were picking the Irish to start 0-6, but herbstreit backed us up and said Weis had something special going at ND. He is the only one that consistently seems to give us any respect - even if he is from to$u!

SoS is a factor in all the computer polls. It was removed from the BCS poll overall, but not in the detailed polls.

So, hopefully, those would pull WVU down.

I just don't like the look of it...no team should even be considered with a schedule that weak.
