Hey this is my first thread start so I apolagize in advance if some find it cheesy or of it has already been done on here.

What was everyones favorite offensive, defensive and special teams play from last year?

My offensive play:

Stovall's TD against BYU when he stood turned to Quinn right after the snap and had the D-back bite and commit up on him. Then he pretty much just ran right around him for an easy TD. I liked this play because it was the first time it really sank in that Charlie was playing one step ahead instead all those years where it looked like we were one step behind.

Defensive play:

Zibby's interception return for a TD against TN. I know the game was pretty much out of hand at that point. But he had such a great game up to that point and I can remember being so pumped up watching it.

Special Teams:

Zibby's punt return against USC. The guy is just a beast. He pretty much showed how strong and fast he was in one play.

favroite offensive:
Definitely the touchdown my stovall against Navy in the back of the endzone, I still don't know how he was able to come down with that one

defensive:
Although I was at the game at the big house I was still never able to see the replay of what happened, but when Henne somehow fumbled at the 1/2 yard line and we recovered

special teams:
the only highlight of our special teams would have to be zibby, i am really hoping for some more this year from that side of the ball

Offense: Darius' screen pass reception 1st game of season for TD

Defense: Leinart getting flat-backed as he tried getting a pass off out of his own endzone

I think Sharks diving catch in the endzone against Pitt. I think that was the moment I knew the offense had changed.

Favorite offensive play... 4 posts, and not one person has picked "Pass Right" yet?

Just watching it live was incredible. That initial 1.5 seconds of absolute befuddlement ("You're passing from your own 1, Chuck? Are you INSANE?"), followed by the catch, ("I forgot, this is Mister Fourth-And-Twenty,"), followed by the hurdle ("WHOA!").

And then finding out the story behind that play a few days later...

Favorite defensive play... I never did get to see it, but the entire defensive stand at the end of the Stanford game. I was glued to my car radio in the parking lot at work (I work overnights), desperately pinging-in the signal from a far off AM-radio station in New York all the way down to Florida, all the while cursing ABC's regional coverage that was giving us the thrilling finish to Miami-Georgia Tech on TV instead of the thrilling finish to Notre Dame-Stanford, afraid that every burst of static from the ionosphere would fade to reveal that our defense had collapsed once again. Instead, those final two sacks made my night... and convinced my co-workers that I was a complete moonbat, but they already suspected that anyway. ;)

Favorite special teams... I'll second the nomination for Zibby's punt return against USC.

Offense: Darius screen pass against Pitt
Defense: Brandon Hoyte destroying Palko...i remember the announcer saying "Palko just ran into a fire hydrant"
Special Teams: Zibby's TD against SC...on that play, he ran by and stiff armed a guy by the name of Thomas Williams, he is from Vacaville CA(where i live) and i was watching the game with a buddy of mine and his, who is a diehard SC fan...i kept rewinding it on my tivo over and over again for him

Offense: Darius' screen pass against Pitt. What a terrific way to respond to Pitt's opening drive touchdown. I think that set the tone for the rest of the game back when we were still wondering if ND would ever have an offense again.

Defense: Even though it didn't turn out quite like we would have hoped, my favorite was the stoppage of Leinart at the 2 yard line with 2 seconds to go in the game. It sucks the ball went out of bounds. Had it not, that would have been remembered as one of the greatest defensive plays in ND history (maybe even the greatest).

Special Teams: Zibby's return against USC. (what else could it be?)

Offense: Samardzija's TD catch in the USC game and when he gets up he goes right to the camera and points at the ND logo on this collar. Classic.

Defense: The Goal line stand against Michigan that caused the fumble/turnover

Damn...before I even looked at your post, those were the three that came to mind. Weird that we are on the same page...While I like the Zibby UT play, though, the more I think about it, I like stripping Michigan at the Goalline or the play against Michigan State where Ndukwe hit the MSU Tight End so hard that he puked...You could barely see it on the clips & the guy made a touchdown, I believe, but he definitely paid for it.

That was Purdue and that was my favorite catch also of the year. I can't stand Purdue.

Favorite defensive play was...I think it was Crum who crushed Hart in the Michigan game.

Special Teams:

The block Samardzija put on one of the USC players on Zbikowkski's TD-return. Anyone remember that? Awesome. Originally the announcer credited it to Shelton, but it was really 83.

Defense:

Two hypocritical plays in the sense that they both resulted in TDs.. but here it goes.

1. Zbikowski shoving Reggie Bush down as he tried to celebrate going into the end-zone.
2. As WaveND mentioned, the play where MSU's Tight-End made the catch in the end-zone right before being hammered by Zbikowski and espescially Ndukwe. Man, if you're going to give up a TD, that's how you do it. He got the shit kicked out of him. I don't remember him vomiting, though, but if he did, that's bonus. I just remember the sight of him laying on the ground for like 10 minutes.

Offense:

Okay, this is tough.. I'll probably say the play Samardzija made against the three Purdue DBs (though, one of them may have been an LB). As Lee Corso would say "He juked them out of their shoes". It was one of those 50/50 plays--Samardzija deserves as much credit as the Purdue players deserve blame: one of them should have made the tackle.. still pretty cool, though.
