ND finally gets a kicker that can boom, but a smaller tee could prevent touchbacks. Great.

No more dark visors either. "Duh U" will lose some of their luster.

20 minute halftimes. Thank you.

I will only notice the 20 min. halftimes when I'm in the stands at ND....other then that I enjoy the current length. I don't think the tee rule will affect the game that much but who knows. Finally, I know they are trying to get things standard but I am sick of the rules on equipment, I will miss the visors just like I miss players wearing multicolored gloves....just part of the game that makes things interesting and players stand out....although I have never been a big fan of wearing them.

They are also eliminating the seldom enforced crowd noise rule-one of the dumbest rules ever on the books.

Stupidest rule ever.

Having been at that ND-SC game, for them to take that kind of atmosphere away from the home crowd and home team is moronic.

I have seen it a couple of times were it was just redic. For instance, if I recall right, and maybe I don't remember it clearly, but something similar was used against ND's fans during the 1996 ND-Texas game....note the game was on the road and I believe we were called for something involving the crowd.

I just read them all...good changes overall.

I personally hate touchbacks, so it will be nice to see a few less.

I like touchbacks when my team is kicking.

As a Bears and ND fan, I see very few.

The new visor is stupied. I like dark visor to scare people I think it is sweet.

Instead of shortening halftime, why don't they just eliminate one set of commercials per half. I understand it is all about money, but that would help a lot. That is probably the one thing I hate about NBC, well that and Tom Hammond, but that is for a different thread.

It's not really a new rule, per se; they're getting rid of an old one.

It used to be that if the crowd noise got too loud, the home team could be penalized for it. But the rule was very rarely enforced and was difficult to enforce anyway. (How exactly do you define "too loud"? Is the umpire supposed to carry a decibel meter in his back pocket?) So the NCAA decided to just eliminate the crowd noise rule altogether.

Not that it'll help Notre Dame much, since our home crowds always seem so sedate anyway... Cue up Tom Lehrer's "Fight Fiercely, Harvard", I guess. :)
