Anybody into MMA? Or the UFC? Ulitmate Fight Night is this Saturday on Spike.

For my picks, I am going to go with the underdog at middleweight and pick Kendall Grove.

And for the light heavyweights, I am going to go with the favorite and pick Michael Bisping. Althogh Josh Haynes is a much harder hitter, and can end the fight with one punch.

I think your right with bisping he was my pick from the beginning but i would really like to see that upset happen and grove beat herman cause i dont like that guy...well i guess well see saturday nite at TUF finale 3

UFC is awesome and Spike's reality show "The Ultimate Fighter" is pretty sweet. I loved Dana White's comments when the fighter left the show because of his girlfriend...LOL!

I think Bisping is gonna crush Josh! In the middleweight division I want Ed to win just because he is so damn angry even though I really like kendall.

I can't wait for UFC 61, Tito vs. Shamrock. Gonna be a slugfest!

I don't like Herman. I think he is a very boring fighter. He is a great wrestler, but his ground and pound is not that good. He does not land crisp shots. Just look at Tito's or Fedor's ground and pound to see what gnp is supposed to look like. Besides, Ed talks too much and is beyond arrogant.

I really like Bisping. He has the fighting tools, charisma and personality to become a star in the UFC. But I wouldn't count out Josh. He has tremoundous power behind his punches. I would like to see Josh make it in the UFC also. But for some reason, I just don't see Bisping being caught.

I hope Josh loses those extra pounds and goes down to 185. He is too short to fight at 205.

By the way, I'm glad there are some MMA fans on here. I got tired of going to the MMA boards.

I agree that Ed didn't look very good in his fights. I think if Ed gets Kendall down though watch out. These guys just wanted out of the house the last week. I think all the fighters will be more focused and explosive now that they have been back in their normal routine with their trainers. Honestly I like Kendall a lot better but Ed's anger problem was quite funny.

I totally agree with you on Bisping he has the total package (IMO). Josh will definatley have to change weight classes if he wants to make it in the UFC. Of course I say all this while laying on the couch and eating potato chips.

The deaf fighter, Matt was sparing with Bisping and instead of tapping out of an arm bar he tried to pull out and hurt his shoulder. So in his fight with Mike (think that's his name) he basically had one arm. He won by decision but had to go the hospital and the doctors said he could not fight anymore so he had to withdraw. To bad to I think he was the only one with a chance against Bisping

Hammil got a bit of a reputation for being rough during training. So some of the fighters decided to start tagging him hard during training.

First, Kendall gave Hammil a kick to the head during practice which gave him a mild concussion. Then couple days later, Hammil was rolling with Bisping and Bisping got him in an armbar, adn Hamil refused to tap. Apparently his arm popped. Hammil fought the next day with only one arm, and never took the fight to the ground.

Apparently his concussion got aggravated during his fight with Nickels, and he was told by the doctors to take a couple of weeks off. I'm anxious to see how he will do on Saturday.

I'm having reservations about paying for UFC 61. I have been a Tito fan from the beginning, and I would love nothing more than to see Sylvia lose. But the undercards are very bad. Its mostly a lot of tuffers, and guys making their UFC day view.

I hate to say this, but the WFA card in late July is looking much better. It has Kimo v. Bas, Rampage v. Lindland, Jason Miller v. (someone I can't remember), Ricco v. Waterman, Lyoto Machida v. Vernon White. That card is going to be huge.

I went to the Strikeforce card in San Jose this month. The Vitor - Overeem fight sucked, but the Cung Lee fight was awesome.

As a diehard MMA/UFC fan, and one who trains in brazilian jujitsu, I am so glad that the sport is exploding at the rate it has..As far as TUF and Ulitimate Fight Night...I thought the overall talent level on this season was not as good as seasons 1 or 2...There was no middle ground as far as talent..you were either really good(Bisping, Herman, Kalib) or really bad (Danny, Nickels, Christian)

I do think that Josh is the worst fighter to make it to the finals, no ground game whatsoever(shocking since he trains with Randy Couture) and Bisping will finish him in round 1. I do love Ed Herman, more so for his intensity, I dont know who is going to win, it all depends on if he worked on his cardio...he needs to also work on his striking.

I HATED TITO ORTIZ before the season started, but i found myself respecting him a lot more as i saw him for who he was as a person when he was coaching. I lost soooo mush respect for Ken during this season, I still hope Shamrock wins, but I wouldn't bet on it. I also give the edge to Tim Sylvia in his title defense. Andre just has a weak chin.

NO WAY! Maybe if it was a wrestling match. Bisping is a Kickboxing stud who would destroy Matt before it went to the ground. Matt's standup looked awful against Mike Nickels...I know he had a bad right arm, but his technique of throwing punches from his hips and leaving his chin out was awful. Plus he looked very gassed in the 2nd round, while Bisping has pretty good cardio.

I think Hammil stands a really good chance against Bisping. The commentary throughout the show indicated that Hammil was owning everybody on the ground. He is supposed to be freakishly strong.

Bisping did not fight a ground fighter on the show, and his ground game is apparently not the best. Most english fighters are stand up fighters primarily. That has a lot to do with the huge influence that boxing has in the UK, and the influence of kickboxing in the rest of Europe.

It would have been interesting to see Hammil fight Bisping. I hope they show the Hammil fight on the Finale. Its slated for 3 hours, so hopefully they will show some of the better preliminary fights.

I go to a place in Davis which is about an hour north of SF (home to UC Davis) it is a smaller dojo with about 10 other students, the price is pretty decent...i have only been doing it legit for about 3 months...before it was a backyard wrestling style with my friends to see who could catch each other in guillotine chokes, triangles, and arm bars.. etc.

To comment on Bisping vs. Matt Hammil. Matt does seem to be freakishly strong. But he also moves very slow. I think that Bisping would be able to out move him and keep it on the feet long enough to really hurt Matt with his standup. Bisping isn't the best grappler, but he should be good enough to know what he is doing. You just know that Dana White will hook these guys up at some point for a fight. Matt has been training with team punishment.

The fight I would like to see is Bisping v. Forrest Griffen. after Forrest beats Tito (*again)

That "Japanese wrestler" was actually Sakuraba, and he is an MMA God over in Japan. He has done soooo much for MMA in Japan over the years. He would be likened to our Royce Gracie, who he actually beat a couple years ago in a 90 minute fight, go to youtube.com and you can search for it. And that was a real controversial fight. Ken says he never threw in the towel, but that the ref stopped it premature...after seeing it, I along with a lot of other pundits thought the same. It is hard for a lot of Americans to do well in Pride when they face Japanese fighters, this type of thing happens all to often, you almost have to KO them or submit them.

I know who sakuraba is Ive seen many of his fights.... If the the Japanese wrestler I was talking about was Sakuraba I would have called him by his name. And I would never say that Sakuraba had little MMA experience, so obvioiusly I wasnt refering to him. Ken fought a Japaese wrestler that close to no wrestling experience and threw in the towel, obviously he had done it more than once.

Ken immediately got to his feet and started complaining. It looked like Ken was dazed on the way down, but I didn't think it deserved a stoppage and the fight should have continued.

I wasnt able to watch the sakuraba fight. This is the first I heard of it. I can see how that would be controversial. The refs in Japan Im sure want to ensure Sakuraba is well respected and might have seen an opportunity to call it early, but Japan has so much respect for MMA I would hope there was no bias in that refs decision.

Yeah I can see why Tito would say that, I mean look who they put in the ring with experienced MMA fighters. Pride is pretty much a Japanese dog and pony show. I like pride fights some of their rules are better than UFC, but they put Japanese wrestlers in with proven MMA champs, their attitude is you have to DOMINATE the fight to beat the home team.
But I think every visiting fighter knows this fact.

I was wondering if Groove would have lost if they were going to give him one as well. I didnt agree with it either, they could have let him fight in the UFC without a contract. The fact that they gave him a contract even though he lost kind of degraded the purpose of the fight and the show. Isnt that what they were fight for? The winner gets a contract, loser doesnt.

I thought it was a draw personally and it should have went to a 4th round..I very much enjoy watching Herman..He is a dominate wrestler and very methodical in trying to get submissions. His only weakness from watching him 3 times is his standup. His style is very much like Randy Couture's and he was just put in the Hall of Fame...I think he will have a very bright future if he stays in the 185 division

Herman, at this point, doesn't appear to have much behind his wrestling though. He is good at takedowns and keeping his opponents down. But, his ground and pound is weak. He can't seem to land much, and this has been shown in all three of his TUF fights. I've never seen him fight outside of TUF though, and people seem very high on him from his other fights.

I have seen Kendall fight before though, and he had a good fight with Riggs, though he lost. But Kendall has imroved so much from the beginning of the show, and the guy is only like 22. Kendall is just more exciting to watch because he has very good standup, and his ground game improved a lot during the show.
