Big Numbers for OLB
It's a banner year in the state of Tennessee for the Class of 2007, and one of the state's top prospects is linebacker Chris Donald. Donald, 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, plays outside linebacker and running back for Huntingdon (Tenn.) High School.
"I read my keys well and make the play," Donald said. "I bring energy to my team and try and be the leader. I am still working on quickness. I want to get bigger, stronger and faster."
Last season as a junior, Donald recorded 120 tackles, 14 sacks, 32 tackles for a loss, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception. Offensively, he rushed for 1,637 yards, had 287 receiving yards and scored 27 touchdowns. Not a bad season, but can it be duplicated?
"That's the plan."
According to Donald, he has scholarship offers from Tennessee, Clemson, Mississippi and Notre Dame. That's just the beginning for this outside linebacker prospect. By the end of May he will certainly be in double digits.
"Right now I would say that I am pretty open," Donald said. "I know I plan on camping at Tennessee and would like to get to some others, but I just don't know. As far as a top five, I like Tennessee, Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State."
