I agree with all of those, but I'd say we have the lead for Ogelsbey. I also think our biggest threat is from Ohio State or Wisconsin; that I can't determine which is greater makes me believe ND has a really strong position.

The three young men on the bottom do not have offers.

I feel good about Edwards, Trattou and Ragone. Oglesby and Martin are coveted by everyone...ND looks to be in good shape.

As you might have noticed, I am more optimistic now that the afternoon has arrived. It is Friday and my hangover from this morning is gone.

According to Fox Sports reports on their Web site Racine Park's star running back Johnny Clay is hoping to receive an offer to play for the national champion Texas Longhorns. Clay said he is also interested in playing for Michigan, Ohio State, Miami and Tennessee, but said at the moment his No. 1 choice is Wisconsin.

"My top choice right now is Wisconsin because they have been recruiting me the hardest," said Clay the 6-2, 220 pound running back from Racine Park with sub 4.5 forty speed. "They were the first to give me an offer, at the beginning of my junior year. I get letters every day. I had a chance to get to know the coaches and the program a little bit when I went to Junior Day (March 4), and I really liked that Wisconsin runs the ball; they're known for that. That's the kind of place I'm looking for."

I like the idea of a thread like this, where everybody chips in with little nuggets of information they've read.

I could swear I read a while back that Clay's top three choices were Wisconsin, Michigan and ND - but that he wouldn't have the academics to get into ND. I'm beginning to find our RB recruiting VERY interesting. Judging by the offers out there, it really appears as though ND wants to get a HB this year. But it looks as though Tyler is either going to USC or UCLA. Allen looks like he's going to miami. It looks like Clay doesn't have the grades. And I think I read that it looks like Rainey is going to FLA. But it doesn't seem as though ND is shifting their sights - so I think one of three things might happen: 1) They recruit Little to play HB 2) They know something we don't about Tyler or Rainey, or 3) Clay might qualify after all. Anyway, it's going to be interesting to see what happens here.

I think we have a good shot at Oglesby, too. But one thing worries me. I was listening to him a few weeks ago when he came on Irish Eyes Power Hour and he was talking about his ND visit. The weird thing was, he couldn't remember the name of his host player. Frank had to remind him that it was Darius Walker. Wouldn't you think a guy who is seriously considering a school would make a point of remembering a future teamates name. Especially, when the player is as well-known as Darius Walker? That's been nagging at me.

According to Darren Evans, he hasn't heard from ND in a while and I'm not sure why.

Allen, Rainey and Tyler are the three backs ND seems to be focusing in on.

I have a feeling that Miami is going to bring in a tremendous haul this recruiting season. They've got some reloading to do and since FSU and UF did theirs last February....look out for the Canes.

I'm confused. Did these kids not know that Texas had a football team until they won the Rose Bowl? All of the sudden they're in everyone's top 5. Ah, what winning an National Title will do for you....

Harrison Smith

From JC Shurburt on Rivals. The article was about Tennessee focusing on in state recruiting.

Harrison Smith from Knoxville Catholic is a versatile athlete that Tennessee would love to have. He seems to be somewhat open about his choices, but there is talk that Notre Dame could be a big factor if it chooses to be. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder can play a number of positions at the next level and is a prospect that the Vols don't need to let get out of town.

Also mentions that Golden Tate appears to be heading out of state and Rae Sykes favors LSU. Eric Berry's dad played for Tennessee and Marvin Austin is friends with a current Vol.
