I wish Austin was leaning as hard as it sound like Benn and Clausen are.
We need that type of player. We haven't had a big time dline recruit in a long time. If we could get a stud like him it might open up in the years to come. Hopefully this trip changes his mind about USC.

Martez Wilson of Chicago Simeon HS told Edgy Tim he's going to the Blue and Gold Game.

Sounds like Demetrius Jones will bring Hughes and Wilson with him. Not sure on Stroter.

Thanks For The Update

Thanks For The Update

Thanks Jigga. Have you heard anything about Toney Clemons, Marcus Gilchrist and Lee Ziemba - three names that I've come across on various sites [Albiet, not your "Holy Trinity"] as possible attendees. Any chance Ryan Miller, the massive OT from Littleton, CO will make an appearance? I read a recent report where a talent evaluator who observed him at the CA combine said he reminded him of Sam Young - high praise indeed. Former NE Patriot C Pete Brock, who was one of the coaches present, had good things to say about him. I know UCO, USC and Notre Dame are his top choices. Hope Pete wasn't dong any recruiting on the side for his alma mater! Looking forward to your updates and reports on the recruits and the game.

Subway-

Ziemba is in. Clemons and Gilchrist are rumored but have yet to be confirmed. No dice on Miller from what I've seen, but from what I hear he is the real deal. I also think he is Dan Hawkins' to win or lose for CU. Miami and SC are in there too.

I'm sure the next three days will bring more news and we'll know more by Monday and Tuesday after the game. For now, however, I like this list as it is so adding a few names will be cherries on top.

We still need to attract some quality CB's. Will Golden Tate be making the trek? or Gilchrist? or...

Another Addition

Another Addition

Just heard from a reliable source that Chris Gallippo will be attending [Great news. Hopefully he will change his mind and de-commit from USC. Rumor has it that Coach Weis has continued to recruit him heavily despite his early announcement] and Kerry Neal is a possibility.

I think that he may be thinking about his odds of breaking into the 2-deep at Notre Dame vs. SoCal. SoCal has Luthur Brown( Rivals and Scout 100 player and red-shirt freshman), Brian Cushing, Rey Maualuga, Kaluka Maiava, Keith Rivers and Thomas Williams to worry about before you reach the seniors!

We have the bodies at Notre Dame but not the talent. He may be seeing the potential of early playing time and-by the way-a quality education! This guy is a smart kid with good grades.

Subway and Kitts:

Word is that Weis and ND are still recruiting Galippo VERY hard despite his Signing Day verbal to USC.

This, coupled with the fact that ND is looking to take 4 linebackers in this class, leads me to believe that what the staff has seen out of the LB corps this spring hasn't been good. They're looking to get some guys in here that can contribute in 07 and 08.

Interesting, isn't it? We once thought DT would be the position to bring in four guys, and now it appears to be 3. I wonder if Kuntz and Hand aren't showing better than the LB's on the roster.

Maybe Weis knows something we don't and Galippo is starting to open up. Being a Cali kid you have to wonder if JC might be in his ear a little bit.

Steve Paskorz tells Irish Eyes that he spoke with John Latina and he will be at the Blue and Gold Game this weekend.

One cancels, another confirms.

Our LB haul over the last several years has been suspect, at best. I look forward to reading about the performance of three of our recent recruits-Morrice Richardson, Steve Quinn and Scott Smith. Toryan Smith could be a diamond in the rough. I think Chris sees an opportunity to play and I think-if he chooses ND-he will see alot of the field as a freshman.

Here is what I've noticed so far about the LB ND has mentioned:

Nagel and Paskorz are almost the same kind of player. College safety sized, with great speed and sure fire finishers. They'll make fine outside backers.

Galippo, Colasanti, Jackson are wrecking machines. They hit. Hard. The more I see of Colasanti and the more I hear about him, the more I like him. I wasn't sold at first, but tape don't lie. There are character and intangible factors that make him a "fit" or a "program guy." But what he shares in common with these other two guys are that they finish with authority. Colasanti and Jackson seem to have more to prove in the eyes of the experts, however.

I like Smith and Richardson. I consider both to be four star kids and they will develop into mainstays for Notre Dame's defense. Richardson's ability to rush the passer could allow him to play DE at some point.

Quinn and Smith just need the reps and minutes.

I've updated the list above, included with incoming freshmen.

St.Kitts, you're right. SC is deepest at linebacker. So deep that their most experienced starter in 2005 Oscar Lua might not start in 2006. Rivers, Williams and Maualuga with Lua and Cushing rotating in and out is a fierce group. Dallas Sartz should be back as well.
