He said that USC may be 11-0 by the time ND rolls into town at the end of the year...also said that ND should have the best offense and an improved defense in 2006.

I know this means absolutely nothing right now, but I am counting down the days to the GTech game.

one thing i really like about Herb is that he is not just a "homer" who pulls for OSU, he is one of the few at espn who actually know what they are talking about

Being born true blue through and through in Columbus really makes you hate Ohio State, but I 'gotta admit, I like Herbstreit. His criticisms and praise are the only ones that hold much weight of all the anchors.

He has more knowledge and professionalism than anyone on the Eastern Seaboard Programming Network.

Yeah, Herbstreit is probly my favorite ESPN personality too.

I can't believe how many people have OSU #1 overall (see: that loser Dodd on sportsline). I'm not gonna say ND should be #1 either off that bowl game, but has anyone looked at OSU's defense this year? I'd challenge 1/2 the people who have OSU #1 to give me the names of 3 starters on the entire squad! I think OSU is really gonna disappoint some people this year, much like Tennessee last year (although probly not quite that dramatic).

as KH said, OSU lost 9 of 11 starters on Defense.

As somebody looking at moving to the Columbus area, I dread having to deal with the massed hordes of OSU fans, but some things you just can avoid. The other down side is adding another two hours to the drive on weeks I can get to South Bend.

Capt. Krik has matured a lot over the years, he isn't as sour when he has to deal with teams that beat him or Ohio State.

Now could Ohio State and Notre Dame meet for a rematch in the Surgar Bowl this year?

OSU will have talent on defense, but they lost almost everybody this year. That's going to hurt. They also lost Santonio Holmes. We'll see just how good Ted Ginn Jr. is next year. It's hard to drop passes when you are open by 15 yards.

Just an update to make you feel better. It's actually 142 days until GaTech......

Agreeance. He is the most objective 'analyst' at EsPN. Now for pure knowledge (as well as blatant homerism) NO ONE beats Sweet Lou.

Nothing like a scripted Lou Holtz-Mark May spat.

May and Corso play the ND thing to a hilt. May probably has more true venom, but otherwise he uses ND to gain a name for himself.

A couple of the guys on the GameDay crew told me and my dad at the USC game last October that from coaching at Navy and IU, Corso loves ND and has great respect for them, especially Weis.

It will be interesting, my Alma Mater playes at OSU next year, along with a game against WI. We always seem to play OSU well.
