Just curious - is there any relationship between Norte Dame and the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts?

Short answer: NO.
College of the Holy Cross came from the tradition of the Jesuit teachings, and St Ignatius Loyola. While the early Notre Dame instruction was based on Ratio Studiormu used by Jesuits of St. Louis Univ, Notre Dame itself (as we all know) was founded by Fr Edward Sorin, a priest of the Congregation of the Holy Cross. That title, "Holy Cross" seem to be about as far as any connection goes. Of course, both are Catholic institution of higher learning. I became curious about this reading "Touchdown Jesus"; which I heartily recommend.

In the movie, Rudy, he is initally taking classes at a school named Holy Cross that is right next to ND. Is this an entirely different school with the exact same name as the school in Mass?

Yes.

It is Holy Cross College, formerly Holy Cross Junior College.

In reality, it is across US 31 from Notre Dame. In the movie, they used Moreau Seminary, which is across one of the lakes from the Dome, to serve as Holy Cross College.

The Holy Cross College near Notre Dame was also founded by the Congregation of the Holy Cross, as was Saint Mary's College, an excellent all-women's college across the street from ND.
