Hiben gone!! Where does that leave TE position

With Joey Hiben leaving the football team to concentrate on his studies where does that leave the TE position...


IMO the starting spot was Carlson's to lose but Hiben provided some exciting depth that looked to have the potential to be great in the future.

Freeman will still be the primary backup as he is an excellent blocker and decent reciever.

Is Rueland ready to step up and be expected to play? I have my doubts about his ability to step in and be an effective blocker.

Any thoughts on McConnell playing some TE???

I was going to suggest McConnel and Schmidt having the build to possibly pull some H back duty in lieu of extra TE's.

Carlson, Freeman, Reuland are good for now. Looks like they'll need to take two in 2007 instead of one.
