Can someone please explain how VYoung has a higher QB rating than BQ, given the fact that he has a worse comp%, less yds, TDs and more INTs???

Here's how Quinn fared in terms of numbers in 2005, compared to some of the nation's other top-rated signal-callers:

Name, Att. Comp. Int. Pct. Yards TD Rating
Brady Quinn 405 263 7 .649 3,633 32 162.9
Matt Leinart 391 254 7 .649 3,450 27 158.4
Vince Young 285 182 10 .638 2,769 26 168.6
Drew Olson 354 232 3 .655 3,055 31 165.2
M. Robinson 272 141 9 .518 2,097 16 129.4
Troy Smith 209 130 4 .622 1,940 14 158.4

You know what I have always wondered?

What did the world do before QB ratings? I remember growing up all those years without QB ratings and all of the sudden one day it just appeared.

Domer95, I can explain it. These QB ratings are crap. And the information posted proves it.

Must be based on yards per completion and TDs per completion. Those seem to be two places where Young would have an advantage.

It's a measure of efficiency, after all. If he gets more yards per attempt or per completion, or more TDs per attempt or completion, he would have a higher score.

Not agreeing with the system, just trying to explain it.

Thank you both. A little deductive reasoning would have helped on that one. See what happens when one lets work get in the way of ND football....

Stats and ratings like this are like a hot chick in a bikini:

They conceal just as much as they reveal.
