Hat's off to Darius

I have posted in the past that I felt Walker was a good back but not a great one--lacking the breakaway speed and the ability to get to the corner. I still feel that way but that view might be open to opinion.

There is another facit of Walker that, to me, is just as important as his running ability. In the first four games he set records and looked like another Heisman candidate in the making. In the next four ND went to the passing game and Walker was put on the shelf.

To someone less mature they might have hung their head or sulked but not Walker. He accepted his new role as a blocker for Quinn and I would say he did just great. upsetting several potential blitzers and allowing Quinn to set his own records.

Great attitude Darius. Keep it up.

I like Walker a lot.

But I am starting to LOVE Travis Thomas (T2).

They're running styles are different and I like that T2 is getting first team snaps over the last month. T2 and Walker both got to the end zone Saturday as well, so it was good to see the running game back.

And Schwapp is just a BULL.

With Weis' passing game, this offense can rack up 500 yards a game on anyone in any combination.

I really like Darius. I know it's early, but I was thinking about his pro prospects the other day. He lacks the bulk, explosiveness and straight speed to be an every down back in the NFL, but he has great vision, good hands, and patience. He is the perfect screen/draw back. I think he can make a good career for himself as a third down back. I've seen very few rb's read the holes on draws as well as he does. It's not coincidence that is where is gets most of his yards.

I'm also not sure DW could ever be a star in the NFL, but I'd love him to prove me wrong. At the very least, his talent combined with his attitude will get him drafted someday.

And just think... this kid's a SOPHOMORE. He's got 2 more years to make himself even better.

We haven't seen the best of Schwapp yet. He is a ferocious blocker and they are now throwing to him a little. I love the way he comes in and out of the game--at full speed. Great attitude!

T2 is looking better all the time--a real slasher.

I like Travis as well. He just hits the hole......BOOM! He doesn't waste anytime and he has shown marked improvement with his ball security. Doesn't he have a year or two left? If he continues to improve, I don't see any of the new backs taking any snaps from him.

He has 1 year left. If he continues to improve he may be taking more snaps from Walker!

I think Thomas didnt play his freshman year so Im assuming he has 2 years left. He does hit the hole with speed and power. If you could combine the two you would have an amazing runningback. Either ways they are both very good compliments to each other. Plus with the new recruits I think we are set at runningback.
