Manziel: The New Tate Forcier

Think about it.

Lots of parallels.

No way does he take the cake from #5 of Hawaii. The greatest ND player of the last 3-4 decades; whom may eclipse that by winning it all...

Forcier's problem was that he was a mental midget. Manziel looks to be anything but that. He's going to win the Heisman unless Manti does something miraculous next weekend.

Manziel will implode next year.

He's not the next coming fellas.

In a truly fair Heisman race, Manti would have to be the favorite at this point. This is the most wide open Heisman race my recent memory can recall, so it's there for the taking more than in most years. I just hate the offensive skill player bias that permeates Heisman voting. For that reason, I think Johnny Football has a very real shot at being the first frosh Heisman winner. And he's good (from what I've seen), but Manti is definitely more deserving in my opinion.

Bet you he doesn't. And if he did, what does next year have to do whether he should win the heisman?

He's untested.

He's made some big plays.

But how do you take what a trialled veteran has done from this season, much less the last four years?

The last 4 years? This isn't the lifetime achievement award. It's based off this year.

Fwiw I think Te'o should win. It's just your arguement is odd.

No it's really not.

I'm not impressed.

No argument.

Siding with KPENN on this one. Manziel has showed well (again, from what I've seen). I've been impressed with his arm and his wheels. And the pressure he put on Bama, especially in the 1st quarter, definitely impressed me. The verdict is obviously out on his whole career, but he deserves props for his 2012 season.

So you don't think comparing him to Tate Forcier isn't odd and unfair to Manziel?

Not impressed? Why aren't you impressed? Explain yourself

Manti shold win the heisman. True.

Tate Forcier = Johnny Football. False.

Should win the heisman and will win the heisman are two different things.

It all depends on those phoney baloney voters and their conference bias.

Want to see A&M without the two best OTs in college football next year.

Manziel is legit, though. Don't get what you're going for here, jkillz.

Manziel just reminds me of the next big botch.

KPENN, keep your poster on the wall man. I won't judge you.

How are you not impressed?!

This kid is the most amazing player in the league to watch. He walked into Tuscaloosa and ran all over the Bama D as he trounced the (THEN) #1 team in the nation.

Wanting Manti to win and bashing Johnny Football are two seperate things.

If he doesn't impress you, then what does?!

Unbelievable. Yet you probably are ready to munch on Golson's jock after yesterday's game when Manziel had been doing that all year.

Yep killz. Because I stick up for a player after you make a ridiculous thread about him, I must be a real fan boy.

Johnny's just hatin' cuz the other Johnny may have a cooler nickname than him

Tough to say what will become of Manziel, but I will say that he had (with Sherman) and has (with Sumlin) some pretty damn good QB coaches teaching him.

I didn't expect support when I coined this topic.

I'm just here to say, I'm a skeptic.

He's not Heisman material.

The sports media outlets will replace him immediately with someone else if he implodes the next two games.

Will you be there to hop on that bandwagon?

As much as I hate to agree with you on anything, I think you're right.

We cool?

You're definitely taking the path most traveled.

Don't act like you're carrying the torch alone pal.

Lol.

It can't be a lonely act.

Why is he not heisman material?

He's a freshman in the SEC.

If that doesn't warrant more of a questioning attitude with the way ESPN caters to that conference, what does?

His team has lost 2 games. Where was his superman cape those two games?

Sometimes a path is cold and lonely for a reason....

He makes big plays and wins big games... heisman material.

You could even sell the story. "Mediocre program at rest enters greatest conference since the mammoth walked the earth and stuns them all. A&M is a relevant program again. Gig em, tears, SEC!"

I don't get the dislike nor the basis of him botching out later.

He's a freshman? Umm last I checked it wasn't just for seniors bud.

It's a team game bud and an individual award. If ND loses next week should Manti be out of the Heisman race?

That statement doesn't even make sense. If he reminds of you Forcier, show me one clip of Forcier pulling off this kind of magic?

In fairness, if I recall correctly Forcier did have a couple moments as a feshman where he was awfully clutch and generally perceived as exciting. Don't know if it's "this kind of magic," though, because Manziel has been pretty consistent all year.

His first game was against a top 5 BCS team and he looked stellar in the first half. His development from game to game has been superb and the team is probably the most improved since day of the year.

Plus, like you said... Walt Disney loves them some SEC and ohh yeah, he has that pass too.

A Heisman contender doesn't need "development" bud. He's there. He's the best player in CFB.

You made my argument for me there.

Thanks.
