Walls snubbing Carroll (FUNNY!!!)

"Not that the other schools gave up easily. Pitt sent Walls over 40 handwritten letters the day before the press conference, and even Southern Cal made a last ditch effort.

Two weeks ago, Southern California's coaches called Walls in hopes of getting in the hunt, and the coaches had trouble accepting no.

"They kept passing the phone on to every one of their coaches, all the way down to [head coach] Pete Carroll," Darrin Walls Sr. said. "I finally got on the phone and said, 'Come on guys, this is badgering the kid.' "

Badgreing a recruit is uncalled for. It just figures Pete Carroll would stoop this low. If a recruit doesn't want to move to the Ghetto in the middle of South Central L.A., don't push it.

My question is who the hell wrote the 40 handwritten letters Pitt sent him? The entire coaching staff, defense and offense, can't have more than what? 10, 12 coaches? What'd they have current players writing to him? Come to think of it, w/ the way Wanny's dragged that program down I could see the current players writing to Walls, just to tell him to go to Notre Dame for his own sake...

Carroll is relentless when it comes to recruiting. He was badgering Aldridge as well. Most kids probably like it, but kids like Walls and Aldridge don't.

I think Carroll is fearful of these guys going to ND. He knows Weis is a better coach then him, and with all the talent Weis is bringing in Carrol won't stand a chance, heck he doesn't stand a chance this year....

whoa...slow down there...WE know that weis is a better coach than carroll, but i doubt he's losing any sleep right now. as prepared and well-coached as we might be, So Cal could realistically simply out-talent us next saturday. we're going to need a LOT of breaks to go our way if we're going to win that one.

fast forward a couple years - yeah, i think weis will begin to strike some fear into the So Cal's of the world. for now, we just have to hope that their fearlessness (overconfidence) works in our favor.

What's going to happen when Leinart leaves? I don't care who they have stepping in, the guy will have never played. Both running backs will be gone, unless they act selfish and back Reggie Bush into a corner to stay. Turnover hurts a program no matter how good. See Florida State. See Oklahoma this year.

SC has had a hell of a four year run. All good things come to an end.

And with all the talent they do have, what freshmen is going to want to redshirt and sit behind two or three guys? You build your stockpile up, but eventually guys will go where they can play right away. Not into a logjammed depth chart. John David Booty has sat on his @ss for about 6 years.

They'll be fine. Booty, Hinds and Sanchez are all solid. In fact, Sanchez and Booty were the best QBs in their respective classes.

Their backup from last year got drafted and took snaps for the Patriots in their blowout last weekend. USC goes at least two deep at every single position, losing one player won't slow them down that much.

Take it easy QuennsNY. I love your optimism, but we have a potential blowout on our hands against USC. We just don't have the playmakers to beat them right now, and if we do win, we'll need turnovers and the mighty mo' to stay on our side the entire game. We'll have to really play great to win this one. I am hopefuly for a victory, but I can see myself throwing my remote control against the wall if we can't contain their playmakers early.

Rocky Hinds already left for UNLV because he was tired of sitting on his @ss. See what I'm getting at? You can only be so loaded.

I don't think Notre Dame will get blown out on the 15th. These guys can compete. They will need to score TDs, not FGs and force the turnovers...not make them.

It will take an organized, hard effort. Do you expect anything less from this group?

I have to agree with Albuquerque on this one. As much as i would love to see ND win this one we have to face the fact that SC has the superior talent at this time. IF we get the turnovers, and IF our offense play flawlessly. and IF our defense doesn't get blown out we could win this one, but guys it would be a stretch. Would i like to eat crow? you bet!.

We're supposed to get a 20 degree drop overnight in Chicago tonight and the chill front will be here to stay. You just never know....

South Bend is east of the Lake, so they get way worse weather than we do.

I am a big believer as of Purdue. I think these guys can hang with anyone. We'll find out...
