I think Utah did a pretty good job last year. Boise State and Louisville did too.

depends, certain schools produce different talent...Ohio St and Iowa do good with OL, while Miami does good with RB's it is all dependant upon what schools focus on

I agree with everybody who said Iowa. Iowa has taken people nobody else offered(Gallery, Greenway, Bob Sanders, etc.) and taken walk-ons (Dallas Clark, Consodine, Nelson) and turned them into draft picks. Iowa seems to have a real knack for talent that I wish Notre Dame had. I think their recruiting strategy is to only recruit people with an outstanding work ethic. It seems to be working for them.

I seriously think that ND should start taking more walk-ons.

Mike Leach down at Texas Tech seems to take a few JUCOs and the guys that UT, A&M, and OU don't want. Then proceeds to lead the nation in almost every offensive stat imaginable.

Cal has also done a pretty good job turning some average recruits into very good ballplayers.

Iowa would have to be the answer. Ferentz has taken some unknowns and made them Big Ten Champions. His incoming class is going to be stellar this fall. He'll continue to develop talent, but I hope they're not used to coming into Chicago and grabbing everyone. He took advantage of very poor recruiting by other coaching staffs in the region. Those staffs are no longer around, so Iowa will have to go up against pro active recruiters....and very good ones at that.

Yes, i agree Ferentz really has his work cut out for him now that ND and Illinois have new, promising coaching staffs.

The fact that he got nearly every top prospect in the Chicago area really had a lot of people upset, esp. the ND/ILL alumni in the area.

Illinois has been letting players get out of state for years. Zook already has commitments from some of the bigger guns in the state. Weis said from day one he'd make it a point to get back into Chicago.

Iowa is winning and enjoying the moment, but they will also be stacked with depth now for a while. Kids can play at ND and Illinois right away.
