The defensive back from Columbus (IN) East has narrowed his list of offers down to Michigan, Notre Dame and Purdue. That is the ranking order.

He wants to stay close to home and has been a Michigan fan his whole life. He ranks Notre Dame a very close second to UM.

Someone should show him the UM football graduation rates. After all, Steve says academics are very important to his decision making process. He has already made the trip to Michigan and will be in South Bend on June 28th for an "academic visit."

Brown hopes to decide by the end of the summer to focus on his senior year.

Four star CB that wants to play safety in college. I think his ND visit should make his mind up for him.

If anyone has any other information on this kid and the current situation, keep us posted.

They all say that and none of them mean it. That superstar Myron Rolle is supposedly a tremendous student, and he'll probably play for Oklahoma. OK makes Michigan look like Harvard. At least to Michigan's credit, it is unquestionably among the top state universities in the country.

Hence, the "after all" at the beginning of that sentence.

If academics were really the issue, the BCS would be ND, Duke, Northwestern and Stanford.

Yeah. What a dynamite Fiesta Bowl...Vandy vs. Rutgers.

But back to Brown....

He has visited UM and not ND. I think once he visits ND, the Irish will go from "a slight second" to an eventual verbal. Michigan had a some DBs in their last class that will enroll in the Fall. Not sure on the exact number, but they could be tight in those spots for a few years.

These recruits have to see that they will be playing right away at ND, especially O line, WR and DB. Look at the depth chart, look at the academics and believe in this coaching staff.

The Golden Dome sells itself, baby. And they finally have a qualifed salesman to do it....a guy with a sense of urgency. CW

Steve Brown is very close to a decision. Wants to verbal before the season starts.

"I'm pretty much just looking at Michigan and Notre Dame right now. There's no standout favorite. They're both very good schools, I just don't know which one I want to go to right now."

Darrin Walls has added an official visit to Florida for September 17th, but he's down to two schools and will decide privately before making a public announcement.

"Basically it's down to ND or Michigan," he said. "The schools are really good schools and it is just so hard to decide between them. I love both coaching staffs."

"The position coach, academics and playing time, it is there at both schools," Walls said. "(Coach Lewis has) experience in the NFL and I like how he plays his coverages. He's a real personable person and we have great chemistry."

These two, plus McNeil would be unreal. Michigan is recruiting Brown as a safety. ND has not specified where they would play Brown. They're leaving it open. Weis has told Walls he would be used on special teams and offense as well.

I think Steve Brown would have verballed to Michigan already if they weren't so stocked with talented DB's, after all they were his childhood favorite. ND has more to sell Brown individually than Michigan. ND offer's Brown immediate playing time, great academics, and an excellent staff and position coach. The only thing ND can't offer is a team that can win more now.

You're 100% correct. Brown will also play CB at ND and has more options in terms of where they can play him. Michigan wants him specifically as a safety.
