Let me preempt this thread by saying, no I do not need to call 1-800-BETS-OFF. I just find it interesting on what the "experts" think. However, dabbling in the past with betting lines, the experts can actually be somewhat accurate in their predictions. They obviously have USC as the favorite. Second in line was Ohio State and Texas. Texas I could agree on, but Ohio State...is there something the experts know that I might be missing. Anyways, here's the lines. I thought it might stimulate some conversation.

I think I'm going to hammer Ohio State at 8-1. They are going to be very strong this year.

What's with UGA at 60-1?

Could be strength of schedule? They play some solid teams this year. SEC will be fun to watch though. Can't wait for Tenn/Fla game. Might have to head up to the Swamp for that one.

Take a look at Auburn's schedule. What a joke. Their first road game is October 15th. They play Ball State and Western Kentucky back to back weeks.

Can you imagine ND playing a MAC and I-AA school back to back?

What a joke! Definitely won't be tuning in for that game.

Speaking of tuning in for games, Sept 10th we have ND/Mich, Ariz St./LSU, and Ohio St./Texas. I can assure you my ass will be planted on a couch that day. How big will that Ohio St./Texas game be? Wow! I think this is the first time these 2 have played? Looking forward to it all!

Two very storied programs. That will be awesome. I haven't looked ahead just yet as to the big national games. I have a feeling this one is going to have a major impact on the BCS. Ohio State is going to be a very good team and Texas is always there.

Are they playing in Austin or Columbus?

I'll probably tape it for my archives.

Texas will have to have a passing attack to stay in that game.

The atmosphere will be sick, as are most things that have to do with OSU.

Perhaps the Horns will take care of them the way they took care of the Rose Bowl five months ago.

Maison, does Michigan really play Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan this year? Is that for real? I'd kill for that schedule.

By the time that game kicks off, I wonder how many OSU players will have made the police blotter and how many nightmares Mack Brown will have had about Bob Stoops.

Isn't N. Ill and E. Mich Div 2 schools? :smilewink

8 to 5 on USC is bad play. Even if you win your 'return on investment' would be very low considering payout won't happen for another 7 months.

Can you imagine if ND had a couple of MAC schools on the schedule to play at home? Man, how the other half lives.

USC at 8-5.....just hammer the chalk I guess. More to lose I think.

Well, in UM's defense (although i don't know if they're actually playing them this year), N. Ill has had some pretty good seasons over the past few years. Eastern, on the other hand, is kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel.

ha, ha...that's great. i think ohio state is the only thing a michigan fan hates more than an ND fan.

they have to play the games, but let's be real here. UM should beat NIU pretty handily. And if EMU crosses mid field it will be by accident.

Well, I'm not a hater, but would defintely say the only thing Michigan fan enjoys more than beating ND is busting the Buckeyes.

As far as EMU and NIU on the scedule, yeah, it's pretty weak. As far as EMU goes, it's due to pressure from Michigan politicians. They want the smaller state schools to get a visitor's share of the Big House gate, rather than see all that cash go to an out of state school. Western & Central Michigan have been on the schedule in recent years for the same reason. Happens to Iowa, to--they frequently play Northern Iowa.

I remember in 2002--ND played Navy & Rutgers in back to back weeks. Part of Ty's magical 10-1 start.

It doesn't bother me that much either. I would honestly like to play all three academies, and they could be worse than Eastern Michigan. As long as UM doesn't duck out of playing us and OSU every year, I will give them the pass. I think for every traditional power you play, you can add a cupcake to your schedule.

Here's the thing with the service academies....who is Navy's biggest game after Army? Notre Dame. Those teams get up for Notre Dame, just like everyone else does. Navy and Air Force have good programs. Army is on the way.

Cupcakes are only going to hurt you in the eyes of the current system that is in place. I would maintain the Big East and Big Ten rivalries that ND has. No MAC schools, please. Leave that to the Big Ten.
