Rivals has their top 100 players for the 2006 class out. I perused through and here are the guys that have Notre Dame 'listed'.

(Alphabetically)

Name HT/WT POS Location

Chris Bell 6-3/205 WR VA
Justin Boren 6-4/295 OL OH
Jamie Cumbie 6-7/255 DE IL
Josh Freeman 6-6/215 QB MO
CJ Gable 6-1/190 ATH CA
Brandon Graham 6-2/235 LB MI
Jermaine Gresham 6-7/230 TE OK
Sherrod Harris 6-3/185 QB TX
Eddie Jones 6-3/225 DE TX
DJ Jones 6-6/300 OL NE
Demetrius Jones 6-3/185 QB IL

Chane Moline 6-1/230 RB CA
Knowshlon Moreno 5-11/205 RB NJ
John Romero 6-5/280 OL AZ

LT Walker 6-4/275 DT AR
Chaz Wasahington 6-4/290 DT LA
Jermaine Williams 6-4/255 DE AZ

21 players total, so basically 20% of the top 100, this is very preliminary, several players didn't have any schools listed. Nothing on Rolle or Tebow who have been posted about here. Also, several kids from PA with no interest.

Good job.

I expect to get 7 to 10 top 100 players this season. Thats what ND used to get every year. This year we didn't have any. Last year we had only 3 (Walker, Vernaglia, Lambert)

The 2002 class we had about 8 top 100 players.

My early prediction is Demetrius Jones will be Irish. He's one of the top QB's, this will be Weis's first big get from Chicago. Demetrius will be attending camp at ND I heard, so thats a good sign.

ND doesn't have much depth at QB and Quinn only has two years left so that would be very appealing to a QB.

This is the way im looking at the QBs.

Brady Quinn Starter 2005-6; 2006-7; Top Draft pick gone
Evan Sharpley is NOT redshirted based on the lack of depth so as a junior starts the 08, 09 seasons.
Next QB WILL be redshirted and start as a sophomore (im pretty sure)

Is that correct? Thats the way it seems it should end up although you never know. Is that pretty much what yall are thinking will happen?

Who knows, but we should be bringing in a top QB recruit every year like all other major programs.

I'd like to see them take a run a McCoy from PA - I've seen him play and he could be a special player. Grades may be an issue.

Rivals and Lemming, et al should be coming out with their 2006 preseason projections in late spring/early summer -- same as the preseason magazines' top 25 rankings.

...and on McCoy, I would love to get him too. I have read that grades would be an issue right now...hopefully he shores that up!

I know we have to wait till spring practice for a definite answer but is this recruiting class being built for the future and for depth or are we addressing immediate needs?

Coach Weis and his staff WILL get the right players for their system and ND. I'm not worried if they are 5 star or 3 Star players, as long as they leave it all on the field!!!!!

Paddy Mullen said ND is number one on his list, and he wants to commit early to a school.

The kid is a beast, he'll be at least a higly ranked 3 star guy or a 4 star guy.

we need to start getting some 5 star players at some of the skilled positions. i haven't really followed what star a player is in the past, but who is the last player nd got that was a 5 star at a skilled position? rocket? i feel in order for nd to get back on top, this will be vital.

Since '93 at skill positions? Powlus, Givens, Duff and Jones all were, I believe. Probably a few others too.

Nayers, he is our best prospect outside of Demetrius Jones. He is also from South Carolina. SC and Clemson have pursued hard. It could be tough.

Jones will probably lean towards ND or Illinois. I think he could start for Illinois....in 2005 as a HS Senior!!

I believe he is a good student as well.

Too early to tell in March with HS juniors. Anything can happen. Just get them on campus for visits and stay on top of them. I think the ND staff will do just that.

I know its probly dumb of me to not know this, but does anyone know when the player rankings are coming out? Just curious to see who the top 5 & 4 star recruits are and if the Irish have a decent shot w/ any of them.

Springfield, Ohio is home to offensive lineman Lee Tilley. The 6-7, 310-pound Tilley has seen his stock skyrocket recently picking up four offers in the last few days. Tilley also visited South Bend this past weekend for Notre Dame's junior day. We spoke with Tilley on Monday night to get his thoughts on his Irish visit.

saw this on irisheyes, but don't have a membership to get the rest of the story. anybody have any details on this guy?

Aerosmith, by the time the season kicks off in late August-early September, the rankings should be out. The summer camps will all be over and the analysis will be done. They use the camps to evaluate the players.

As for Tilley, Arizona, UGA, NC State, Kansas and Nebraska have made offers. ND, Ohio State, Purdue and Duke also show interest. I see Duke and ND, so the kid must be smart.

Tuesday night I went to a regional basketball game at the high school down the street from my house. One of the guards on the team is also a junior wide receiver on the football team. I talked to his father at halftime and asked what schools had contacted his son. He mentioned that ND gave a call. He was very impressed with Charlie Weis' pitch.

This kid has hands like a madman. He catches EVERYTHING. I saw him play three times this past fall. 6-3 and still growing. Needs to get faster, but his size and hands set him apart from anyone I saw last year. Tremendous athlete.

This is a first hand account of what Weis is doing. Parents and players alike are impressed.

our chances look good, he said if we offer, ND will be his leader. He said he's a big fan of ND and even watches many of the ND classic football games on espn.

Now we just need to offer him...

Marcus Lewis, WR from Gurnee IL Warren HS. Scored 17 points in their regional championship win last night. Might want to walk on for basketball. In hoops, he's a 6-3 tweener. As a wideout, his hands are the best I saw in 2004. He catches EVERYTHING. He just needs to get faster. Still growing too.
