The huskers sucked this year, its that simple. So I asked myself why are all the top kids lining up to play there this year. And I think the answer is Bill Callahan. Why Bill Callahan? Because he runs an NFL system and he can get his kids ready to goto the next level. Which is the goal of almost every kid going to a major school. Which brings me to my point Charlie Weis brings everything Callahan does, and more like those 4 super bowl rings(ok 3 for now). I believe next year we will be the Nebraska of the recruiting world. And I cant wait!

Yeah, the Huskers sucked so bad that wanted to get 'healthy in hurry' with one-third of their 31 commitments being JuCos, that's a route that we'd NEVER take, nor should we or could we. John Robinson tried it at Univ. of Spoiled Children the second time around and in the immortal words of Jim Mora "didn't amount to diddley poo".

C-Dub should, in the long run, run rings around Callahan, as he's a brighter mind and will be able to build more continuity with his players, of whom the vast majority will stay for three, four or even five years. I can't wait either!

Nebraska fans are already calling for Callahan's head. Do they know he's bringing in probably the best class at Nebraska in a long long time. Nebraska was having problems breaking the top 25 in recruiting for years, but looks like they may have a top 5 class this year.

They've added some more cream puffs to there schedule, so even Callahan should be able to win alot of games there.

JUCOs are another trick to get around scholarship limits. A JUCO will never be at a school for more then three years, even if he does graduate. Divide 85 into 2 parts instead of 4 and you can get quite a few more players on your roster each recruiting season (in reference to the 25 scholarship rule).

Until the NCAA cracks down on academics in football, ND will always be at a tremendous disadvantage.

I agree with you rip rap on that one - but it looks like in the next few years the NCAA will be doing something. But back on topic I would love to see ND play Nebraska in a bowl game in a few years with callahans good recruiting class coming in - that would be a classic!

I hate Nebraska with a passion and always have, but even I have to admit, I think they're gonna be really good within a few years. And you're right, I don't see why the same can't/isn't be said about Notre Dame w/ Weis.

Lemmings actually stated in his chat this morning that he expects Notre Dame's recruiting class next year to be like Nebraska's was this year.

Which is really saying something as we won't have one JUCO on it.
