there is no way the big 12 conference is overrated. im sorry, but with teams like texas, texas a&m, oklahoma state, colorado, and oklahoma, the pac 10 conference as a whole cant compare. look at what texas tech did to cal. just because the sooners got blown out doesnt mean a conference is weak. if the big 12 is overrated, then so is the big 10. look at penn state, minnesota, illinois(?), michigan state. in my opinion i think these teams would get beat by many teams in the big 12.

I think the reality of it is there's no really "great" conferences anymore ('cept maybe the SEC) & there's only 1 or 2 great programs in each conference. Part of that is b/c of what the mid-majors are doing, there's a lot more competition these days to crack the top 10 then there used to be. I mean, look at what Louisville & Boise State did this year, not even talking about Utah. Not to mention Miami (Ohio), Fresno State, & Toledo all having very nice seasons just to name a few. The BCS conferences simply can't be as dominant as they used to b/c there's a lot more competition then there used to be for recruiting talent.

but put toledo, miami of ohio, and fresno state, and heck ill even say it, utah, in the big 10 or big 12 and see where they go. im just saying you cant base a conference strength on whether or not a team lost or won the nc.

I'm not. What I'm saying is the overall conference strength of ALL THE BCS CONFERENCES isn't as good as it used to be b/c there's more competition for talent these days. I mean, non-BCS schools are getting real talent these days in ways they never did before (see Randy Moss, Chad Penington, Ben Rothlisburger, and soon J.P. Loseman as well just to name a few). I mean, would Utah have gone undefeated this year if they played in the SEC? Probly not. But I still think they'd of been AT LEAST a 9 win team.

My point is just if you look at all the BCS conferences as a whole, the level of play of all of them has diminished a lot to me over the past 5-10 years or so, and the difference between them and the collective non-BCS isn't nearly as great as it used to be. Its still there, and its still a sizeable difference, but its just not nearly as sizeable as it used to be to me.

ok, i see what your saying now. the level of play and the loading up of talent has diminished i will definitely agree, but i dont think that most teams in non-bcs conferences can compete with the bcs conference teams. however, there are exceptions, i will say that.

Yeah, I think everyon'es overrated...but I'll still take the SEC or the ACC over any other conference. Top to Bottom, they're clearly the best.
