the san diego padres.

but seriously, i'll be in vegas for the start of march madness and i'm throwing down money on cleveland, detroit, and texas. not because i think they'll win, but because they all have a legitimate shot at the postseason and they'll pay the best. unfortunately it appears the five bucks i dropped on the clippers may have been a waste (woulda payed over $600!!)...

My Yanks over hmmm dunno yet, NL looks weak next year, plus I gotta see were Beltran goes, if he goes back to the astros, they could get to the world series.

the NL is fairly weak in the west and east, but the central once again looks pretty stacked. the cardinals lineup is more or less intact minus their middle infield. the cubs, if healthy (and if sosa goes and magglio comes) could be dangerous.

i think boston is going to make the series again, honestly. wade miller for $1.5 million was a remarkable signing. the lineup is intact plus renteria, they'll probably move BYK prior to spring training, and matt clement's stuff is NASTY and his command gets better every season... plus wells... shit. i'm a padres season ticket holder and he looked phenomenal this year.

anyway, indians over braves in 6.

I love it how people sleep on Atlanta year after year. Loose Glavine & Maddux...no problem. Loose Lopez & Sheffield...no problem. Loose J.D. Drew...we never liked him anyway. :)

Bottom line is Atlanta has a nasty staff, and one of the most underrated managers in the game. He took an average team with hurt stars (The Jones Boys) and not only won the division...but put a real scare into the Astros, one of the best teams last season.

Yanks-Braves...the rematch 9 years in the making...lol.

I don't think Houston will get past St. Louis (they got Mulder).

As for "The House Of LaPhonso"...it's an inside jooke with my friends an I. LaPhonso Ellis (the guy in my avatar) was a great basketball player at Notre Dame in the late 80's/early 90's. His name means "Great Warrior", and he was always one of my favorite players. He started out great in the NBA on the Denver Nuggets, but injuries have killed his career. He's still in the League, but the brother's just holding on to a roster spot.

I got the "House Of LaPhonso" from an old Nike commercial for Dikembe Mutumbo basketball sneakers (ugliest shoes ever!). The line at the end of the commercial was, "No one dunks in the House of Mutumbo". And Mutumbo did a little finger-wave thing.

So I just took the finger wave and the saying, and put it on one of the best ND B-Ballers ever.
