ND does not cover, this game will be too close for comfort.

Side note: I will be driving up to Illinois all day Saturday, so if y'all never hear from me again, it's because I ran off the road after Book throws a pick.

Syracuse will put some pressure on the defense early, and Book will do the usual hit-and-miss thing in the first half.

Lea adjusts well at half time as usual, and Book heats up in the second half as usual, and ND barely covers.

Defense was very shaky against Florida State. I hated how the front 7 played. If they play that way against Syracuse I think we lose. I think Syracuse will be UP for this game, whereas we’ll be wearing costumes and emotionally exhausted after senior day and this grind of a season.

I think the refs also try to screw us, because that’s been a theme with ACC refs all season to this point. They are good for one or two terrible calls against ND each game.

Assuming Book plays, I see a dogfight that comes down to the last possession... I’ll pick ND winning 35-31 because they have more overall talent on both sides of the ball and the OL played really well against FSU.

Syracuse is 8-2 by virtue of winning the turnover battle. The only way we will lose this game is if we beat ourselves with turnovers.

My prediction is we play a mistake free game, defense shuts down the run and forces them to dink and dunk in the passing game. Our offense takes what is given to them - either Syracuse stacks the box and Book has an efficient and effective game, or they try to take away the pass and we run it down their throats.

ND 45 - Syracuse 28

I'm not super worried about that. Ademilola and Hinish struggled to get off blocks and eliminate extra gaps, which made the job more difficult for Coney (and occasionally Bilal). They were resting Tillery and Bonner quite a bit from the very beginning.

Coney is usually getting downhill through a single, clear gap as Tillery sucks up a sure double team and makes things a nightmare for the opposition, but he couldn't do that against FSU because they young DL were in stalemates and forcing him to guess which lane to try and crash. He was more hesitant than normal, and also forced to reach for arm tackles more than normal.

As long as Tillery wasn't being rested with an undisclosed issue that will eat into his reps again, I think Dungey is going to be forced into throwing 55 times.

I worry about our DE's holding lane integrity on pass plays and about Jalen Elliott continuing his improved pass defense, more than I worry about the run defense.

Might just be my perception, but I think ND has been running fewer stunts on the DL in recent weeks and especially against FSU. Early in the year, the stunts were working great. Maybe teams caught on, maybe it was intentionally dialing it back, maybe it's me not paying close enough attention. I do think this weekend we present an interesting challenge with the QB run game. If they go man rush, staying in lanes will be critical. If they stunt, they will need to spy as it could generate running lanes. I think ND will give up yards, but the key will be stopping them once the cross the 30. Limit TD's like they have done all year. Cuse has a strong kicker...27 of 29 on the year with a long of 54. Kid is really good.

Me either, I think if the ones had played an entire game, it would have looked a lot different. I also think the perception of what happened might be worse than the reality. The 2 rb's (Akers and Patrick) avg. 4.14 yds/carry. On the season they are at 3.85. Francios had a comp pct. 48.9%, below his season avg. of 58.8%. He had an absolutely awful 4.6 yds/att significantly below his season avg. of 6.8. I too would've liked to see a more dominant performance but I think taking all this into account, it was a decent night for the defense. Maybe not 3rd in the country good, but I think when the snap counts come out, it will make a little more sense.

You guys are so ridiculous. We held them to 13pts which is our low for the year. Yes I get they had to go for 4th down a couple times but guys come on. We have only allowed 1 passing TD in the past 4 games.

ND 45-24

My hope is that ND's OL puts the team on its back and keeps Ian safe and secure. Ian proceeds to methodically carve them up, and Dex runs wild. I would not be surprised to see BK go back to BW if we are up three scores early, or up two scores later. Truly hope we don't continue with 2Q shit play calling.

D worries me a little after their play last week. Dungey, while not a great passer, can use his legs for yards and to extend plays. Our base D needs to get home and contain him. The front seven did better than I expected vs Navy, so hoping they prove me wrong. Hope Clark has some sneaky well timed blitzes ready and keep them off balance. Tillery is due for a big game. Hope the time with his cat did him good and he's ready to beast out.
