He had heart surgery and was cleared by doctors in high school, but when he went to work out with the team the coaches said he wasn't cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse. That was in addition to some of his HS classes not being put through the NCAA, which meant that he wasn't supposed to have enrolled early in the first place. So, the ND staff asked him to leave to avoid receiving a violation from the NCAA for accepting an ineligble player. They gave him another test later (not sure if physcial or academic) and he failed by one point and had to leave.

So for Tee now, he got on the ball too late to get into Junior or Community College, and ND told him he couldn't walk-on either. He tried talking to Coach Denbrock to get him to help him out, but since he's still not cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse he can't come back -- which is why Coach Kelly said the ship has sailed.

Nice kid -- he's really upset that this stuff happened and it sounds like he had some poor advice/guidance from his local HS staff and parents regarding getting the appropriate paperwork done, etc. Kid really loves ND. I wish him luck for sure.

From 247, not premium info just a poster. Some crazy tweets over the past hour... this backs up everything I've heard to this point from the "insiders" on this board. He got totally screwed by his HS academic counselors/advisers IMO.

all of this makes sense

Can I read into this that he still hasn't done what he needed to do, or that the clearinghouse sees something they won't "Clear", or the worst...the clearinghouse has some defined window, and tee is SOOL.

If its the latter...eff the NCAA clearinghouse. Every Organization worth a shiot has a rapid action process to deal with stuff like this...no one should tolerate a kid getting lost because they have a clearinghouse "season".

Your post reminded me of the late Paul Harvey, "Thats the rest of the story".

Sounds like a young man who just realized his dream of being at Notre Dame is likely not going to happen...hurts my ears and my soul. I think he thought somehow it would work itself out, now he realizes it won't, at least not anytime soon.

If it's just a problem with the clearinghouse, can he get the paperwork/tests he needs out of the way this semester and come in the Spring? If it's just a few administrative things, I don't see why the ship has sailed forever.

That's terrible. I know a kid who had a full ride to Duke to play baseball only to find out he had a heart condition and could never play any sport or exercise again. Horrible. Life really deals some ****ed up cards

more salt on the wound with Lo Wood's season ending injury today. Love that Kelly tried, still hate our administration.

All you can do is hope things work out for the best. It's really got to be tough for him, could you imagine being that close to one of your dreams only to have something like this happen?

All right I'll play the hillbilly here but why couldn't this be worked out over the next semester, or two, then get him in if he's done the work? I don't understand the "ship has sailed".

Somebody 'splain it to me.

I wonder when the last time Mike Jones got a phone call.

I know for fact he got a call this Saturday. My friend Dave referees basketball games in his spare time, and when he can't make a game, he asks one of my friend's, Ryan if he can cover. Dave always texts me asking Ryan's number, and the 3rd time this happened I was annoyed that he hadn't saved Ryan's number yet, so I texted him '281-330-8004' and Dave texted me 2 minutes later "tried that number. Wasn't right". Lol.

So, in short, it's the NCAA Clearinghouse that is the blockade right now. Kinda what a lot of people were saying earlier and yet, still stinks to hear it.

Tee is saying it wasn't academics and ND made him leave? I am still confused.

As far as BK saying ship has sailed, either he meant this year or something happened that we are still not aware of.

I am surprised that ND admissions even cleared him. Sounds like some fishy stuff? Maybe ND didn't want another blemish with his medical history. Declan Sullivan for example. Just an opinion.

So what i'm gathering from the posts here is some guy (i hope not a grown man) named turtle actually called Tee up to talk to him about the situation? Which is in turn both extremely weird and creepy. No matter the outcome of a prospects recruitment we as a fan base should keep minimum contact with said recruit. And when i mean minimum i mean as for as going out of your way to contact or see them. If they come to a board and talk to the fan base thats a little different. I'd do my best to distance myself from a fan such as "Turtle".

I'm with you, I don't understand this story either. And even if he can't play football bc of a medical condition wouldn't ND still try to work with him to get back into the school. I'm sure I just don't understand this, but it kind of seems like he was cut loose for things outside of his control ... but that ND isn't going to be helping him further.

Also I wonder about why Anzalone is tweeting to find out more.

It sounds like his Clearing House issues are related to his high school transcripts. I doubt ND can do anything to help clear those up for him.
