F'ing sucks. One of my all time favs. I was blown away by the below as a child during MTV's early days. So many good memories from early childhood through college apartment parties singing Zombie Zoo.

All time fav...

Apparently clinging to life. CBS didn't have their facts straight and everyone else ran with it. Doesn't look good either way.

CBS probably to busy firing someone from the legal team to get Tom's story correct... Geesh.

Anyway, need to change this to a prayer thread. Be strong Tom.

RIP, one of the best.

So many great songs, and super cool riffs and lyrics....as previously mentioned - You Got Lucky, Listen to Her Heart, You Don't Know How it Feels....just to name a small few.

The guitar in You Got Lucky is forever etched in my brain. Brilliant stuff.

That's what I've been hearing as well. On life support, so it doesn't look promising. Heard him interviewed a couple of times. Very down to earth.

That great rock band in the sky will sound just a little better when he gets on stage.

He's dead for real now.

My first concert was Tom Petty with Steve Winwood opening for him. Petty will always be special to me. We've lost a legend.

I was watching a the Foo Fighters documentary on Netflix a couple of nights ago and I came across Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers playing on SNL with Dave Grohl on drums. It's out there if you look for it but the SNL copyright hawks are pretty strict.

Was fortunate to see him several times, including his most recent trek thru Dallas in April.
Always a great show, and listen to his tunes all the time.
RIP.

Tom Petty was my first concert. It was everything you could hope for. He and the Heartbreakers were amazing, they had so much passion in the music, and the crowd ate it up. He was amazing, and it didn't ever matter what genre you like, you liked Tom Petty.

This quote seems like it would have applied for the last ten years to CBS and Petty.

RIP Tom

Have no idea where the RIP comes from since Tom was the one who stated "It seems to me that no one's got Christ more wrong than the Christians." Zero evidence that he knew Jesus or had any type of significant relationship with him. While luckily, I dont make the choice on who enters the broad gate or the narrow one, everything that I know to be true Biblically would say he entered door #1.

But I agree that he was an amazing artist with a lot of great songs that I enjoyed. He will be missed indeed.

Anyway, Petty was far from my favorite musician.... I think we all have that guy who is big that just doesn't move you, Petty has always been mine. I still recognize his contributions to a genre of music I enjoy and will be thinking of his family, it's never easy.

But others believe and are free to make their own wishes to Tom through their own beliefs, no?

Maybe you were "Free Fallin" too much to appreciate it.

But yeah... I get ya. I think we all have those we just don't relate to musically. I am a much bigger fan of his early to mid years music than his later stuff.
