I am legit shocked. I was never a Freeman believer, I think his hire was ND being cheap and went with the current emotions in the locker room and chose him. He has now lost home openers to Marshall and now NIU. The decision to bring in a mid throwing QB to learn a new offense with unproven WRs was risky. Best thing they can do is erase this from their memory Men in Black style, start Angelli and move on. They can certainly run the table and make it into the CFB but this is not a well coached team.
Don’t think Angeli could survive behind that OL w/ no threat of hurting a defense w/ his wheels.

Why the hell did we stop using designed QB runs after the first drive? Why take away Leonard's greatest (only?) strength?
He was hurt and playing hurt from the second quarter on. Clearly there was no back up plan in the evident of injury. It was clear that any pass beyond 10 yards was a 50/50 ball and we were fortunate until the last ill advised throw.

The decision as to whether he will stick with him is Freeman's though. I don't think ND can beat Purdue with Leonard at QB (although Faison should be back so that may give them someone to throw to).
And we’ll see if sticking with him is right or wrong. RL isn’t getting benched; nor would I personally make that move. He has two bad games? Different story.

Just my opinion.

It’s simple:

1.) Leonard is no longer the starter; OR

2.) I’m done with Freeman. I’m not big on him anyways. His antics coming out of the tunnel was embarrassing. You’re a coach, not a player. Imagine Nick Saban doing that. And get new clothes. They’re tighter than my wife’s. He looks like a Puerto Rican whore.

1. Agreed.
2. Huh?

He had a bad game against TAM as well.
Look if he is the best option keep him in. But that would be sad.

It makes me kind of wonder if Debrock was aware that RL can't throw and originally had designed QB runs to be a bigger part of the offensive plan.

But, then we found out that Leonard might be made of glass, based on how he was acting after a couple of tackles in the 1st 2 drives, at which point they abandoned QB runs, so he wouldn't be lost to injury.

Which means RL has no redeeming qualities, other than reciting Bible verses on TV.

The amount of times he held the ball or double pumped because he doesn't know where to go. He also has such Happy feet in the pocket he has no idea how to step up he constantly runs himself into pressure

He’s a one read QB. Which is a huge issue if you can’t throw the ball accurately or down field.

Agreed, his pocket awareness is poor. If he remains the QB there should be more bootlegs and roll outs to adjust to his strengths.
Last year, we knew Leonard was inaccurate and lacked anticipation and dared him to beat us thru the air which he was unable to do. I think he is a tough gritty player but given his known limitations why did we pursue him. I don't get it.

Why not start with Angeli. See what he has and assess from there. They can always go back to Leonard.
Agree with part 1. Not part 2.

If Steve isn't the answer try Minchey. If he isn't the answer, at that point there's maybe 4 games left and you give Carr the reps.

When you go all-in on a one year rental portal QB and he ends up sucking, you’re SOL for that year AND you’ve stunted the potential growth of a younger QB. Florida State is in the same situation right now.
This is an underrated comment. The problem is he tried this with a terrible QB his first year and then was pressured to go with the trend.

Go with one of the young QBs and commit to running the ball with Love and Price mostly.

I didn't follow him close enough to know what a terrible deep ball passer he is. When they mentioned it last week I was thinking, oh no. In the games Angeli has played in his passing is light years ahead of Leonard's. This game would have been tough but definitely a win with a quarterback they knew could pass the ball.

Its about the same with regards to the offense.
Not really honestly, our offense against A$M was two big runs by Love and Price and today it was one drive of runs and QB sweeps and Love. I thought the offense was poor in week 1 and no one can convince me it wasn't poor in week 2.

I'm on board with this. Just bench RL - never understood why ND went after him when they have potential greatness at QB with Angeli, Minchey and Carr.

Most ESPN talking head commentary is bullshit, but Saban (I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt lol) was on and said that to be an elite team you must: 1) force TOs and 2) generate explosive plays.

We absolutely fucking suck at #2 and have for the past 5 years now.

i think freeman is coaching for his job the rest of the year. we could easily finish 9-3 or 8-4 with our remaining schedule.
Who does better? I agree, he may be over his head but do you honestly expect a Saban-level coach to come in?

Need to make the big change and start anyone else. If we can get our shit together with a decent QB we can out this disgusting loss on the shitty fraud QB. It’s sad that so many guys bought into putting a C on his chest but we can’t let shit like that or the NIL etc get in the way of making a seemingly bold decision. Freeman has not made any real balsy decisions but it time to show if he is as bad as we think he is or that he can grow a pair and surprise us. If a new QB has us playing like a whole new team most polls will forgive this loss as an abomination since it was close and our D only gave up 16. The writing is on the wall and we’re not going to wish it away. Leonard will get the draft stock of many players reduced. Say he is beat up a bit and bench his ass.
If Leonard is as good a dude as we all think he is he needs to pull a Biden and take one for the team and get out da way!

Starting to equate agreement with Kamala Harris. Reciting from a script and can’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Most companies are condoning the BS DEI nonsense. ND need to do the same. America got bit by it and now Notre Dame.
