I think the biggest balls of Freeman’s life is going to come in his decision to sit RL. I don’t know if he has the balls. Hartman would not have lost that game. Minchey and Carr, I don’t believe would have lost that game.
I wish one of the beat reporters had the balls to just straight up ask him “When will you announce your starter for next week?” Just treat it as a given that they need to make a move.

This team isn’t playing in a playoff game to
Win.
What I'm saying is moving forward for me the margin of error is close to zero. Win out and win a playoff game or I'm fine moving on. One loss is not going to get me to jump on the fire Freeman bandwagon but if he can't finish this season strong see ya!

This is where I'm at.

Not even 11-1 will cut it

He needs to suck it up... bench Riley, show everyone that this type of performance is not the standard, and win a playoff game or get lost

I love Marcus and want him to succeed really bad,, but this is entirely unacceptable

He's too young and inexperienced to understand the depth of our love for this team.

We really need to have a coach that wasn't chosen by a bunch of guys/players that love him.
Players need to respect a coach. They need to fear him in the way a parent can look at their child and they know they screwed up.
Love happens later, after they win or become successful in something important.
The whole society these days is backwards.
Rewards before accomplishments.
The fact that Swarbrick hired a first time head coach on his players advice, tells me he knew he was leaving before that decision was made.

We'll make It one day.
God Bless ND.

Thoughts after watching the post game presser:

- I'm tired of hearing about coaches and players' poor preparation. This is year 3 for MF and your teams shouldn't be using preparation as an excuse for a loss. There is more to it if you can't prepare better with two of the best coordinators in the country on your staff.

- MF admits wanting to take a shot when RL threw his second interception. Why not take a shot earlier in the game off of play action or when the game isn't on the line and you need to score some points? What kind of answer is "Yes we wanted our noodle armed QB who hasn't thrown a decent deep ball all season to take a shot"?

- NIU has a unique offense? I didn't see anything that amazed me besides execution and players that wanted it more.

MF keeps stating that we have to own this and not point a finger at coaches or players and that the leadership will show. It's time to point fingers and figure out where changes need to be made. Time to grow a pair and call out those that underperformed both the coaches and players. That is how you fix it.

- I hate hearing him say we got to go back and evaluate everything. Every time we lose he uses the same excuse. We have to go back and evaluate everything. I would rather a leader state where the shortfalls are and make changes. If 3 and outs are the problem then its time to call on the offense and make some changes, whether its in rotations and/or who is playing the position, make some changes because what you are doing isn't working.

Sad to sit through that post game presser and hear nothing. I am tired of hearing political excuses and just want honesty. At times I feel MF too often is protecting coaches/players instead of holding them accountable.

Fact is this...under MF players arent developing. How do you have THIS kind of recruited talent and lose to a whole team of 2 star players, at home, with a million recruits and a nation watching? This is a bad coach guys. Great, shinny PR cheerleader but bad coach. Hes over his head and unfortunately, NDs getting flushed for it. Jack chased the PR and it came back to bite us all.

I don’t get this way of thinking. I’d much rather have a coach hold his cards close to his sleeve with the press. It might be frustrating to hear generic non-answers as a fan, but what matters is how the coaching staff reacts behind closed doors.

Again, we have a baby O-line. Almost always a recipe for a rough season, it just sucks that it happens to be a year we have the best secondary ever.

I know we're all up in our feelings tonight but pretty much the entire defense would argue against this point. Freeman's teams have struggled to develop a passing game, yes, but we've developed a lot of good football players the last few years.

The O line didn't have much to do with losing this game, as far as I can tell.

I'm tired of the PC BS as a ND fan. I want accountability and I understand you can't air all your dirty laundry but I'm over the nice guy stuff and all the we need to reevaluate as coaches and all that BS.

Lol. Not being a complete dickhead isn’t the equivalent of being “politically correct”.

Agreed but I am saying I'm tired of the basic answers he has had everytime we lose. I don’t need him to be a dick but its not wrong of him to say that QB play has been poor and they need to quit blaming it on the “young” oline all the time. I don't need Bob Knight but I would like to see some Saban!

I see. Honestly, I think Freeman should have tossed Leonard under the bus and backed it up a couple times. Dude is getting paid big money to win at ND and his play has been horrible.

Ten ply
A team so soft they need to do lotion commercials
A coach who looks better than he coaches. Spend less time on the drip and more on performance

Frank Leahy once had his team practice in the parking lot because he thought they were getting soft
Leaders lead they don’t make excuses

They’ve relied too much on portal/nil….can anyone think of a player they brought in guaranteeing a starting spot who was a difference-maker?

I've just done a complete 180 on MF. Let the Willingham comparisons begin.
Once Deuce flips this might as well be the class to sacrifice with a coaching change. The offensive skills positions stink in this class anyways and there is enough depth in the program to be able to sustain some recruiting losses.
Pete - Rip the band aid off.
I think Weis may be the comparison

We're still losing to Marshall, in effect, in year 3. Freeman isn't it, unfortunately. The question is just how long this goes on; the ending here is set at this point.

Freeman has a big week ahead of him because seriously Purdue has had the week off to prepare for the next week. I can easily see ND losing that game.

JJB was pretty good last year. Beaux Collins looks like our best WR this year. We mostly recruit/develop our own well enough we don't need to rely on the portal in the way some teams do. Except at the most important position on the field, and that's the problem.

I agree with almost all of this post but the one thing that I think Freeman takes the "go back and evaluate everything" part is sincere. It's the only thing that gives me hope in MFMF future is that he is always looking to improve. I don't know if he is ready to take on a program like ND right now but I feel he will be a very successful coach one day because of his constant drive to self improve. He is young and inexperienced right now but I honestly feel he is will one day be very successful for his constant drive for improvement, development and charisma. Just don't know if he is ready for a top ten team yet today, but I firmly believe he will someday because of his drive to constantly improve.
Nah he sucks. He is a cheerleader, not a coach.
That booing....cant imagine hearing that. The team and the coaches deserve it. They should be ashamed of their efforts. Top to bottom. When you cant run the ball, thats on the OL. 100% of the team they played today would have never even been considered to be offered by ND. When you are a 4 star WR competing against a 2 star DB and you cant get seperation....
Whole team is balls.
