SPORTSbyBROOKS Multiple sources, including one inside UT football program, told me today Mack Brown will likely be forced out at Texas

Texas has two bad seasons in 20 years and all hell breaks loose.

The bad thing about this is who are you going to hire now? All the big name proven winners are taken.

Those were the ones that came to my mind as well. I wonder how much Will has learned about Florida... if he could recruit Texas like UT always has and get some players out of Florida...

"Old Yellowtooth" needs to go, but the timing is off with no big names available. They won a title in spite of him, not because of him.

In my opinion, Brown is a pretty mediocre head coach. What he is is a great, great recruiter. It took Brown years to figure out that his team played soft and he should do something about it. They were great frontrunners in that period but regularly folded when someone [translation: Oklahoma] punched them in the mouth. Their bowl games were often the same way. I believe that he's a slow learner on some of these issues, and even with the top recruits in the nation does not destroy opponents like the talent level should. Very affable fellow though.

Agree 100%. His recruiting skills are well-documented, but how hard is it really at Texas? They will be much better off moving forward with someone a little less affable, and more like Saban.

I went to the UT vs Baylor game this past Saturday and Mack has a very talented and very young team. Future is bright in Austin for sure.

Gary Patterson would dominate at Texas. I couldn't even imagine how good they would be for the next several years.
