Just in case any of our Floridians are awake with me tonight, just pulled this off of the National Weather Service website. It's the current Short Term Forecast for Orlando, FL...

SHORT TERM FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MELBOURNE FL
1126 PM EST TUE NOV 21 2006

.NOW...
THROUGH 1 AM...LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS...POSSIBLY MIXED WITH A FEW SNOW
FLAKES AT TIMES
...WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS VOLUSIA...LAKE...ORANGE...
SEMINOLE AND NORTHERN BREVARD COUNTIES. ANY SNOW SIGHTED SHOULD NOT
REMAIN INTACT UPON CONTACT WITH SURFACES AS TEMPERATURES ARE
CURRENTLY IN THE 40S.

It's not sticking, but hey, snow of any kind in this part of Florida is a rarity in-and-of-itself. I hope it makes it down to Cocoa Beach before sunrise!

Well, drat. The overnight forecast still calls for the possibility of snow flurries mixing in with scattered rain, but looking at the radar it looks like the few scattered spots of rain have dried up now. Ah well... it was fun while it lasted. :)

I was in Panama City on sprink break in 1993. It was warm all week but temperature dropped drastically the last couple days and it snowed near the end. The locals were dazed by it.

That was the year a HUGE blizzard hit the south and basically shut Alabama down. Most of the students in Panama City that week bugged out early. All except me and three friends, that is. The last couple days we hung out with some Marines on leave sitting in the hotel getting blitzed and watching basketball tournament games.

Then we drove home through two feet of snow. The guy driving was an Alaskan native, so he had some experience. It took us 24 hours to drive home to Cincinnati. Got home at 6 a.m. Monday morning and went to 9 a.m. class.

My old lady would have had a fit if it snowed. Thank God it isn't going to.

i think the point he was making was: we live in Florida.... the place of perpetual summer. Usually, the temperature around here is about 70 degrees on average. For us to have snow this far south is really really rare.

75% of Floridians are from NJ or NY.
20% are from someone else
3% are Native Floridians
1% are Europeans with Condos in Miami
1% are technically not even here because they would be illegal if they were.

I'm in that 3%. And I love snow.

And yes, I realize that if I love snow, I am in ENTIRELY the wrong state.
