There was many plays to choose from but my favorite from the game has gotta be Hoyte's smack on Palko in the first half to mess up his hand

lol that was great!

1-0!

Palko was swearing this time, just in a completely different context. They were knocking those guys around on both sides of the ball....every five minutes someone in a Pitt uniform was on the ground.

NASTY.

I hate Tyler Palko. He is a baby. All he did was cry. It was sweet when hoyte hit him.

Hoyte was awesome last night and the D unit was flying all over the place. Minter and Lewis are great coaches and they are benifiting from Weis.

Looking back on that first drive, I thought the game would turn out a lot differently," said Lee, who made four catches for 63 yards. "But they changed their secondary, putting the corner up on me tighter and rolling the safety over

This is why I think our defense is going to improve greatly over the course of the season.

considering this was supposed to be the Palko air show...I was quite impressed with our D. hopefully they can continue to improve and we'll be one hell of a team

Their effort in the second half was tremendous. Tommy Z is in on every tackle. What a player.

They went out and HIT people. You could tell they were more aggressive than previous years. Pitt is feeling sore today.

Once again I think Pitt kinda went brain dead and didn't throw the ball enough and pick on Richardson, they tried to run the football against a great run stopping team, I believe if Pitt had thrown the ball more, whether it be quick passes or isolate Lee with Richardson the game would have been a lot different. Even with the 5 sacks I think the D-line only played fair as often Palko had what seemed like minutes to survey the field. Tommy Z played a heck of a ballgame minus one play as did Hoyte. Wooden stepped up; does anyone else find it funny or kind of ironic that Wooden is wearing #22 the same number that Shawn Wooden worn in his career at ND, does this mean that Ambrose will bat away Leinharts last second pass as #2 ND beats #1 USC at home?

Good call, something that was lacking last year. The old defensive staff (and offensive staff) could not make in game strategy changes. This coaching staff is so much better.
Instead of standing around dumb founded they made the appropriate changes to win the game.

Tommy Z came away with 10 tackles and had a great game. I have to agree with everyone. The coaching staff has made the difference. Ty is a great guy, not a championship caliiber coach though.

I am not sure which game you were watching...Palko attempted only 7 fewer passes than he did last year and I would say that was because the time of possession was flipped from last years game.

We actually gave up about the same number of rush yards as we did last year but the passing was cut in half and it wasnt because Palko threw half as many passes.

Just my .02

I was not comparing last year, I was just saying if Pitt wanted to be in that game they should have come out and picked on Richardson the whole first half, how many of those passes were attempted after the game was already over in the second half?

it seemed like Wannstedt was trying to force the "power" running game a little too much. It wasn't working

I like the coverage ability of the of the linebackers this year much more than last year...after having a huge game last year (2 or 3 TD's), Pitts tight ends didnt really do anything except catch a couple of short passes. A lot of that has to be attributed to good coverage from the linebackers and a decent pass rush.
