Come to ND! Where our coaches background checks only take 2-3 weeks!

Applause!!! Now we can have an O-Line coach to talk with the bigs and even the RBs. This had to cripple us a little in the recruiting wars these last couple of weeks.

Most of the credit for the OL commits goes to Hiestand

Getting mad reps from Bivin and McGlinchey so far on ISD Power Hour, one of the main reasons they committed

Maybe some people should trust Kelly more. Some people didn't like this signing but looks like so far it is working out.

He (Hiestand) should be a good recruiter. Many of the radio stations here (Nashville) are not liking the thought of him leaving. Also, of all the coaches on staff, he is the one they wanted to stay the most.

Listening to talk radio yesterday, they were talking about the O-Line commits to ND that 'may' have been options for the Vols if Hiestand would have stayed and Dooley would get off his ego-horse. Well, thanks Coach for bringing the boys to ND, we will need them!!

Harry IS the man. This comparison just smacks of alliteration. Harry Houdini, for his ability to pull large mobile linemen's committments out of a hat, or from up his sleve. No one is sure where they come from, but they just keep coming . . .

Hiestand targets versatile offensive linemen

Throughout his entire career, Harry Hiestand has made a point to coach offensive linemen who are capable of playing multiple positions.

Just a btw. PFF came out with their week 3 offensive line rankings. Through the first 3 weeks, the Bears have the 7th best offensive line in the NFL. Pretty impressive stuff from Harry!

1/129 is a hulluva lot better than 7/32, though.

That was in his 6th season at Notre Dame. Chicago Bears are 18th in the NFL in spending at the position and have not used that much draft capital on the position and yet rank 7th in the league in Harry Hiestand's first season there. That's pretty damn good.

Go, Harry!!!

Blessings to a (sadly past) loyal warrior. Hope you get the Bears winning a few games.

I was being facetious brother, should have used italics. Make no bones about it I wish he was here still, one of the best in the biz

Betting he sticks until the current core group (Fisher, Alt, etc.) are done and then retires.

I'm happy with this development. Great experience.

Quick question. In another thread, there was some speculation that Tommy Rees had "complete control" over the offense hires. Not sure if that is true. Does anyone know if Marcus Freeman was involved in this hire or at least threw the Holy Water at it?

Cheers and Go Irish!!

If Hiestand is the uncle in the room, that's fine, especially at OL. My hope is whoever the DC is might also be a bit more of an experienced coach.

Rees OC/QB
Taylor RB
Hiestand OL
McNulty TE

All comes down to WR coach now. Such a massive hire.

I love the hire if proven guys like HH and the Mason ST coach.

Frees Freeman up to focus on macro level stuff and really revolutioniz recruiting. You hire stretch guys and you have to be more involved - this ain't that.

I'm guessing HH is not going to be going far from South Bend (or however far he is going to call home from campus) to do recruiting. Probably a lot of Zoom/Conference calls for him - which I believe is fine in these times TBH. And, HH's background and his output to the NFL will speak volumes in itself to get elite OL transfers/recruits to the Irish. Although, I do expect MFMF to get on his defensive coaches and recruiters to start working on the DBs - SOON!!! Honestly, if MFMF is going to work the portal, I would be combing it for those that have the grades and skills to get them there ASAP! With who is coming back and the two recent hires, ND looks to be moving in the right direction.

Only item I'm worried about is the freaking NIL money. But I for one am actually a believer that the NIL could hinder some teams with the mentality of a 18/19/20 year-old. If I was getting paid per the NIL, why would I want to 'play school'? It may backfire... Is there rules on how much of the money a player gets that they can use immediately? I haven't done much research on NIL money. Maybe someone can enlighten me/us?....
