We've had the same problen in NJ. ND used to own NJ. Weis will own NJ again, he's an NJ guy, and he's proving to be a heck of a recruiter.

Those days are gone but can be brought back so quickly with one good season.Look at TY 's class after his good season I think it was top four.Everyone is a front runner and needs somthing to sell to these kids. The only exceptions are schools in states that have all the talent(Florida,Florida st,USC,maimi)Notre dame has a great Advantage over other schools just on name and tv alone. It is all a domino affect and I think givin just one season of improvement we will return to those times. Now go head irishgo8 post right behind me I have gotten used to it. :naughty:

i think irishgo8 has been banned. thats what happens when you post 400 times in one day i guess. new jersey is a small state, but there have been som outstanding players come out of there to play fot the irish. i think weis will own new jersey next year.

Weis has done an outstanding job assembling a staff that can go into any state and recruit. I also believe we will start to recruit FL well again and own NJ.

Yeah...it's a sad day when Wake Forest is pulling more recruits out of Florida than the Irish...

I think it's representative of a lot of areas around the country. Up here in Michigan, there's some good talent - obviously U-M takes their share of that - but Davie and Willingham were never very good at pulling Michigan recruits. I found that particularly troubling, since Michigan is as cold or colder than Indiana, and from southern Michigan - Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, etc., it's only about a 3-4 hour drive from ND. Given the similar environments, you'd expect it to be one of the easier sells.

Yeah, it is a real testament to the lack of recruiting prowess by the Willingham regime. I think Ty just rested on his laurels and expected Notre Dame to recruit itself.

One last thing... I find it odd that Ray Herring isn't even listed in the Florida Top 100, and that is what I was hoping for someone to catch.

I think it was in his last Press conference transcript, that he mentioned the need to recruit from the midwest, that it should really be "paraphrased" owned by ND...instead of having tOSU and UM taking all the talent ND should get it...it was also interesting that almost the entire staff was located in key areas of the country before. Haywood in Texas, Cutcliffe in the south. Ianello in the midwest...areas that these guys know full well.

To me this class is a wash, his ability to recruit will really be determined by next years class when he gets to start with everyone else and can go full time doing it
