Cack or one of the other Pool guys. Tell me why Allan was loaned to Cyprus? Thought he was a promising prospect. Is it work permit issues? I know you can buy citizenship there for around $500K and would be an easy in to meet EU residency requirements.

You may have just answered your own question ...

I am not super plugged into this issue, but my understanding is that in order for Allan to get his work permit, he needs to play serious minutes at whichever club takes him on loan. So LFC need to find a club good enough to help him develop but bad enough that he can get into the first XI on a regular basis (he made only 15 appearances, about half of those as a substitute, for Hertha last year). So I think that's how he ended up at a Cypriot club playing Everton in the Europa League. (!?)

But there is probably more to the story than I know. The above-bolded is news to me but it's an interesting angle on it.

this article explains it.

Basically places like Belguim, Turkey etc don't have stringent laws regarding immigration as the UK

belgium has considerably less stringent rules on non-EU nationals working in their country and his loan spell would allow him to spend enough time in Belgium to gain EU nationality therefore removing the need for a work permit.

So no Van Dijk and Sakho is sold. I have to assume this means Gomez goes back to center half when Clyne comes back, otherwise Liverpool has three center halves right now. Two of them being Lovren and Klavan. That's an injury away from scary and two injuries away from disaster.

If they had signed a quality center back they'd be right up there as contenders. I think they can finish Top Four again but that's about it.

Well no more signings today. oh well. Really needed a CB. Cant understand why we didn't go after someone other than VVD. Not happy about this.

Well they hadnt had a very bad game under Arena yet. He was unbeaten in 14 i think. So a bad game was to be expected at some point. It sucks it was in a big one against a good team. More work to do in Honduras.

Personal thoughts are that I didnt like the setup. It was not a good setup against the 1-4-5. CR also had a really high back line so there was no space between the middies and defenders to operate. Very smart on their part.

I like FabJo but he didnt belong in that game. He did not have the work rate and was missing from large chunks of the game. Thought Arriola should have played.

That ref had a terrible game. There were several missed handballs and that was the clearest penalty i have ever seen. That guy who scraped Pulisic should have had a red card. Clear as day IMO.

For me, it wasn't that I thought "we're due" for a bad game. For me it was "is this unbeaten streak real or just an illusion before the REAL challenge begins?" I sat there and watched the dissolution of the illusion --- yep, minus Pulisic and a good game generally from Wood, we're the same old mediocrity that I feared. So what's to say?

Is there any optimism for me?
a). The schedule helps --- the team could win the next three games and add 9 points.
b). Altidore cannot play the next game. Maybe Clint can save us.
c). Maybe Arena now understands that it cannot be Ream at CB. Gonzalez would have been WAY better that game.
d). I've given up hoping that Arena will see the defensive disaster that is Zusi. But there's always hope, I guess. Villafana was stunningly incompetent.
e). Nagbe and Pulisic need to be given a ten-pound finger talk --- "I know you're little and sure those cheap shots you guys take hurt, but dammit you have to toughen up."
f). Bradley can't possibly have as slow-thinking a game again. Neither can Cameron.

What does that mean? Watching Mexico roll on again and do well in the big tournament while we sit home redefining what happened?

Scotland in a very interesting battle for a WC spot suddenly... basically tied with two other nations and they play both of them in their last two games...

You have no idea how grateful you should be. Missing that match was probably the best thing to happen to you today.

There was never another outcome once Mane went off. The Liverpool subreddit is defending Mane. It wasn't malicious, he was going for the ball, but he gave him a boot to the face. I fail to see how that is acceptable regardless of what supporters trot out. There are mitigating factors with how it played out; going for the ball, out of the box, 50/50, etc, but the only thing that matters is the boot to the face. Red all day.

Never a doubt what would happen after the sending off. Klopp doesn't just shut up shop and mitigate damage, he goes for it. Would it have been nice to try and scrape a goal? Maybe get a draw? Sure, but that's not Klopp. I'm fine with it. We'll move on and improve. I have all the faith in the world in Klopp. Enjoy the win you cunts, you deserved it, but you still have to come to Anfield. It's match week fucking four. This means nothing other than three points for City and none for us. YNWA

Defo sucks and Man city were awesome. Still, Liverpool is 3-1-1 against MC under Klopp and I dont think there is a massive gulf in talent but going down to 10 is a big ask.

Debruyne (sp) was phenom.
