I agree. Man City is one of those teams that can beat anyone and lose to anyone (a lot rides on whether Yaya feels like he gives a shit on a given day), but I wouldn't want to play them right now. They look dangerous.

Man City needs an upgrade in central midfield, and/or they need to keep Delph healthy. Fernando and Fernandinho don't really cut it, imo.

Things could get crazy quickly here depending on what happens with some of the BPL teams. If Man City wins CL and LFC wins UEL, and neither finishes in the top 4, then the 4th place team (which would be West Ham or Man U, presumably, in my hypothetical) won't get into CL b/c no league can have more than 5 teams in the CL. How bizarre would that be.

Man City will probably finish 4th though, so it will be a moot point.

I love Fernandinho but he is so inconsistent. Fernando is awful though. Curious to see some summer time transfers. I am hoping for Youri Tielmans as one of the moves.

Highly disagree with the bolded. Dinho has probably been our best player this season, and ferny has been doing his job wonderfully of late. Also, I like Delph, but I wouldn't put him above either of the two you mentioned.

Whoa, if that's true then I have not seen a representative sample of City games, which is certainly possible. I can't have watched more than 10 City games this year, maybe fewer. But in those games, it seemed to me that opposing teams are finding too much space in the middle of the park.

I can't disagree with that sentiment, though. He has some great moments. The goal in the Watford game comes to mind. Huge.

Part of it is that City is playing for a lame duck coach. It's almost as if the whole team is inconsistent, except De Bruyne.

He may not be able to impact games like KDB or Kun, but he's all over the place. While all of our players have been picking up injuries here and there, dinho is playing the full 90 almost every game and never seems to lose energy. The open space in midfield has much more to do with yaya, who doesn't like to get back on defense.

Edit: he has been far more consistent this year as opposed to his first couple of years with the club.

Not really. EPL doesn't matter as long as you get top 4. We're in the semifinals of the Champions League. Also must be tough always staying motivated knowing that your coach is leaving and you're getting the best coach in the world the next season. You're out of Europa league and that is your fate again next season. Congrats. Really. That is a good result for a team the quality of MU.

So cute when City fans think they're anything but the little brother.
United is on a down swing granted and yet City with a new owner who spends money like it's monopoly couldn't capitalize United has stayed relevant and competitive.
At least the scousers have won a few things City fans chirping now just seems sad.

Jesus Mary and Joseph did you really just knock City for spending money when you've spent the most money in the EPL the last two years.

Nope I knock city fans for chirping because they finally have an owner who spends money and violates FFP and still couldn't step on United's throat.
Most rational United fans expected this down turn.
SAF caliber of coaches don't come along every year and lets face it for his last title he did leave the cupboard bare for any incoming manager.
Moyes was never gonna last because as we know you can never follow a legend LVG had a chance, but his philosophy for whatever reason hasn't worked. I have my theories not the least of which is Giggsy and SAF and SBC having so much say in the running of the club.
City, the scousers, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham should have stepped on throats. We'll be back in less than the 10 years I expected because none of you did.

You sound like a Michigan fan. That's even sadder.

In this analogy City fans would be the Michigan fans.
Haven't really won anything ever, but still think they're the greatest team ever.
I would be more like a Yankees fan talking about 26 rings or even a Bama fan.

Winning two league titles in the last four years is something

if we're doing EPL-CFB comparisons, here is my take:

Manchester City= LSU. We haven't really been that good til recently. The fans like to make more of their history than they really have and always talk about some obscure title from 1966(or in LSU's case, 1957 I think).

Manchester United=USC. No one likes them, but they're a solid team usually with a solid history only recently hitting a down turn.

Liverpool= Notre Dame. Arguably the most historic club in the EPL. Always good, but usually not great enough for the title nowadays.

Arsenal= Florida State. Just a bunch of top 4 finishes (FSU top 10 finishes) with the occasional title run, but usually choke a loss away.

Chelsea I have no idea

Everton= Washington. Have a few titles of relevance, otherwise very average for the last 20 years.

Thoughts on others?

Seems fair. Arsenal could be compared with Clemson or Oklahoma as well.
I'd call City maybe more of an Oregon.

And it was 30 years prior to that for the last one and 30 years prior to that for the one before that.
So yes historically they have won more titles than Michigan.

Sorry, when you start throwing out the term "little brother" you sound like a Michigan fan. Every time.

Pretty positive the little brother term started in Manchester because of City.
And don't be sorry I got to insult City fans and Michigan in one post. That's a pretty good day.

What's the CFB equivalent of Leicester? Wake Forest coming out of nowhere and winning the championship?

BTW that match this morning was absurd. Referees continue to be the one thing ruining soccer.

I'm thinking Duke or maybe Iowa State.

Crazy game. Thought the first yellow on Vardy was cheap, the second was more deserved. Should have been a penalty when Huth was thrown down in the box but the ref gave them a make-up call at the end. All in all, the bad officiating evened out.

Apparently Vardy could get banned multiple games for cursing at the official after getting sent off? Are you kidding me?

Celtic really is trying to become more English by losing on penalties. Is this a significant push toward EPL membership?

Spurs putting it to Stoke. Think the title race is going to come down to the last game.
