I'm not either. If he was trying to install a new defense, then I'd be worried.I may be the only ND fan not worried about this hire. Was hired by Urban Meyer (say what you will) twice.

So Ash will run a defense like Golden did?I'm not either. If he was trying to install a new defense, then I'd be worried.
That face says he will wet YOUR bed.
From the info shared, it will still be the same D with a few tweaks. Wants to create more opportunities for the DE's and may not blitz as much as Golden. So Ash will run a defense like Golden did?
Agreed with the first sentence. With all the shit happening in the world, this is the absolute least of my worries.I may be the only ND fan not worried about this hire. Was hired by Urban Meyer (say what you will) twice.
eh looks more like you just need a primer on "ND beat writers just regurgitate whatever football coach says in interview" because they don't know what he's talking about either.I'm sure that Lion knows exactly what the following means, but I don't and would like to hear more.
Our defense will be characterized by "not constant/heavy blitzing, but will find other ways to be aggressive, including heavy man coverage."
So, I'm confused. I thought that a LOT of heavy blitzing PLUS "heavy man coverage" was what Golden did. So how is using heavy man coverage a way to be aggressive without the blitzing? I'm concentrating on the key word "Aggressive" here. "Heavy Man coverage" in itself doesn't seem necessarily "aggressive." Aggression would have to come elsewhere.
Now, my meagre defensive football knowledge tells me that you CAN be "aggressive" in some senses if you use heavy man coverage, AND sell out vs the run --> meaning that man coverage plus stacking the box equals "aggressive vs run offenses", but that's not Golden-style aggression vs everything. If you folks can give me an Ash primer on what he means by aggression without blitzing, I'd be grateful for that.
"I want my guys to take on the personality traits of their defensive coordinator, alright? Anybody who is going to succeed in this defense is going to be cautious, timid, and will do anything you ask but like, in a kind of shitty, passive-aggressive way. And you can take that to the bank."I just want a Dc to come out and say “We are going to be reactionary and not aggressive.”
Unless Ash plays DT I’m not sure what you would like him to do
Learn the 10 is going to runs crossing route and then kick it back out.
BVG was a gangster. Alas, he was also a shitty coach. He Makes BVG look like a gangster.
Easy fix...pull his head outta his ass.He looked constipated every time they showed him on tv. That’s all I got
