I'll wait for the Georgia Tech game before I join the mob on this one. I had relatively low expectations for the Irish this year (8-10 wins) so a close win isn't going to knock me off the bandwagon.

Lol I honestly think losing to an option team next week would set ND fans on fire.

G techs an option team that's been putting up like 65 points a game. I'm not going to lie, I'm not expecting a win.

Ughhh, did he play today? If not, why isn't he?

It's a clown argument. Elite teams can play shitty in any given week. Just because Arkansas lost today doesn't give our head coach a pass. That's absurd.

Brian Kelly should be compared to Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Les Miles, and other elite head coaches because we want to have the success they do. Those guys don't go 8-4 most years and lost to Northwestern, Tulsa, Navy, etc. etc.

What about losing to Louisiana Monroe (or beating 6-6 Arkansas by a point), Virginia Tech, and the Fighting Irish led by Brian Kelly? LSU fans call for Les Miles' head every year. Is he an elite coach?

Teams have bad years. LSU underachieved last year. But they don't do it every year and certainly don't make a habit of losing to mediocre teams. And by the way, Miles won the natty.

I'm not calling for BK's head but his shtick is wearing thin. Yeah we're 2-0, great we were 6-0, and 7-1 (and really within reach of 8-0) last year but where did that get us? The thing is we are too far into the BK era to still be hanging around scrub teams like Virgina. We have too much talent on defense to be getting torched by the likes of Matt Johns (or whatever his name is) on a regular basis. I'm tired of watching Notre Dame make s**tty, third tier QBs look like superstars at least 4-6 times a season.

The thing is I don't see a lot of tangible improvement in all facets of the game from year 1 to year 6. We make the same mental mistakes, the same defensive errors, we have not to date developed a reliable QB, our offensive play calling from the calls themselves to the system to call the plays in has sucked from day 1, etc. Think about we're 6 years in and we're still getting delay of game penalties and burning time outs because the system is so complex and confusing no one other than BK himself can apparently understand it. Also I've never seen a team so allergic to the endzone once in the redzone in my life.

This entire game today is a loop from every season under BK. I mean I swear to god the exact sequence of events has taken place before:
-hot start out of the game
-dominate in everything but the scoreboard because we can't finish
-some fluky play takes place
-scrub team led by some never-was QB catches fire
-ND defense collapses
-3rd tier QB has a career day
-ND never really recovers from collapsing
-gut wrenching loss/borderline miracle to win

We have that exact game about 5 or 6 games a season. We shouldn't need a 38 yard bomb from Kizer to beat Virgina. We should never, ever, under any circumstances...EVER lose to Northwestern in the 5th year of a head coach's tenure.

We're becoming VT and UGA because we're so afraid that we'll hire another Charlie Weis that we're probably pissing away our chance at our own Urban Meyer or Nick Saban. I was a big BK fan from year 1-4 1/2, yet the sequence of events from the time we stepped foot in Sun Devil Stadium to now has left a bitter taste in my mouth. We just haven't progressed that much from 2010 to now. It really makes realize that 2012 was just smoke and mirrors and a lot of luck. We're a lot more talented now than we were in 2010 and a few things in the program are in much better shape, but now we're starting to waste talen a la UGA by hanging onto a coach who I'm not convinced has the goods to get us over the top. But at least Mark Richt is good for 10-11 wins pretty reliably with a few down years sprinkled in.

I'm not calling for BK's head, but I don't understand the sunshine pumpers either. BK has a plethora of excuses ready at the end of every disappointing campaign, at some point you have put up or shut up. Urban Meyer stomped Alabama and Oregon last year with his 3rd string QB.

I don't put Miles in the very upper echelon reserved for Saban and Meyer but he's a good coach. He's also won a natty like you said, been to another one, and won big bowl games. He's got more cachet than BK does at this point.

ND was about a 6 point favorite coming into this game pre-season. Then we demolished Texas, and the line was inflated. I told everyone that would listen that this would be a close game and the question would be whether ND could pull away late. Virginia had a top 10 or top 20 defense by all metrics.

So ND goes up 2 scores and heads into the 4th quarter without Malik. To that point, we were thoroughly dominating Virginia despite:
1. Having horrible passing execution from Zaire.
2. Having horrible red zone offense.
3. Virginia getting lucky as hell on one drive and solving their red zone woes.

ND wins this game by 3-4 scores with breaks going the right way. I see no evidence of coaching deficiency except for some play calling and the fact that our CBs seemingly can't cover mediocre skill players in man coverage.

Can't wait for Clemson and USC to slice us into pieces. KVR looked outright bad today. Devin Butler is the same old Butler.

I was watching Matt Johns routinely throw passes to spots well before their players were out of their breaks... and every time the player would come out of his break with separation, locate the ball, and make a catch. Part of that is just good throws with anticipation. NFL style throws even under pressure.

Another part of that is that our CBs were beat badly on many occasions. If you're not re-routing players and don't have the hips/recovery speed to turn around and play the ball in the air, then wtf are we doing playing man? Play zone! And on many plays, guys were just running wide freaking open on apparent coverage busts... seemingly because of misdirection pre-snap, but I just got home and am going to watch the film now.

GT, Clemson, and USC are going to embarrass this defense though if we continue to leave CBs (and LBs sometimes too) on an island.

You guys need to take a nights sleep and quit crying like little bitches. Sorry to be frank, but do you really want to act like losing our qb means throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Do you honestly think that all of these long, elaborate diatribes on why "all is lost" are genius in our drunken stupors?

Chill. Get a nights sleep and take even a smidgen of time to evaluate what happened. Don't go all suicide watch, "fire BK" when we won the fucking game. Act like an adult. Act like we've watched college football before. Did y'all think we would go theough the season without adversity?

It's often better to grab a nights sleep and some coffee before shitting on the entire season two weeks into the schedule.

What's your take on Day/Trumbetti playing in coverage? My take is I'll help BVG pack his bags if Day is on the field and not rushing the QB.

Lol. Classic!

You're classic. By that, I mean that anyone could guess what your response would be to any given situation. Good or bad, it's always the path to least resistance with you. If it's easy, self gratifying, self serving or status quo.... We can count on you, our very own village idiot.

Congrats.

So because I don't like Day playing in the 2 deep, I'm... what again? Wooly went off the deep end again.

You should read the entire thread. I've been praised for my analysis, lol.

Maybe you need to step away from the keyboard. First you went off on people in the game thread and now you are calling someone a village idiot. I like you Wooly but you probably should tone it down a little.

I went off the deep end? You're the one just coming back from a ban.

I'm glad you found a friend to like your "analysis". Which has never been anything but shitty rambling from a childish poster with little actual football knowledge. keep doing what you do, Koon. I don't have to go out of my way to make a joke out of you, that feat you manage all on your own.

I'm toned down, friend. I'm literally the only person on here right now that isn't freaking the fuq out and calling for a meteor to land in South Bend. Read the posts, I'm far from from freaking out. If anything, I'm calling for rational dialogue.

Yes... Some people. Good response. Really thought provoking.

Kind of like you coming in, nose diving just to start some ish. Put me on your ignore list, I couldn't care less. Nothing I said was out of line or out of my ass. Day should be rushing the passer because he's our best pass rusher. He's not making plays or fooling anyone playing coverage. If that's an off the wall opinion to you, do less drugs.

Could you cry any more? Put me on your ignore list, because I am fine with calling out your knee jerk, cry baby posts. I'm not asking you not to post anymore, I'm just asking you to form opinions better than what a 15 year old fan would have.

This doesn't make any sense. No one's crying. I'm saying I've seen enough of BVG having our DL run with slots and play zone coverage.

Quit being a drama mama all of the time. There's no reason to jump in and start anything over anything I said.

Wooly, I hate to do this but here is a sampling of your posts from tonight. While I agree that you want a rational dialogue, I feel that the way you are going about it is more likely to lead to provoke personal attacks not rational dialogue.

You're all a bunch of pussies.

Grow up.

This is college football...

Bunch of emotional cuntz...

Go take a lap.

I was busy watching the game and not emotionally douching all over the board.

Who looks more like an ahole? You, who was crying like a b!tch the entire 4th? Or me, who let it play out and watched a win like an adult? Grow up.

Yeah... Because I was the one on here crying like a b!tch and calling people out for not being a sniveling kunt like yourself. That would have been the adult thing to do....

You're right...
