A Place in the Sun

I have a thought I have to share.

How will all of you feel, when we have our rightful place in the sun? Do you doubt ever making it back? Would it matter any way?

The answer is simple: no.

It wouldn't matter.

And one of these days, when you've been put in the pasture to rest your rambunctious souls, laying there in a fertile bed of compost will remain a sinewy and knarry tangled area too tough for even the stoutest rototiller to turn through: the remains of heart from a true-blood Notre Dame fan.

And when we return to our preconceived pecking order, and college football returned its majestic sons, we will bask in the glory.

That's Notre Dame, boys...

That's a true Fighting Irish reality.

The greatest Notre Dame tradition is winning. Never, ever, doubt a winner. We'll get back up there one day.

Really wish Jonas would have found that niche a few years ago.

He had that next gear. It was a pleasure to watch him go a few times...

The beginning of the video with shots of the stadium for the night game brought back a couple bad memories. But other than that, awesome video.

Have faith in Kelly. I bet he solves the QB issue, and we're back to the BCS this year or next. D is bumping, O will swagger once QB is solidified, ST will improve...

Come, drink the Kool-aid with me my friends.

As the graphics flew by (which I generally ignore) this one caught my eye:

This was the AM radio station that I listened to in Orlando as a young and high school lad and introduced me to the likes of The Beatles , The Animals, The Stones and many others.

My "place in the sun" has included NY, FL, MN and any other place I've been. The sun has shone in my backyard many a day. Irish football has been a bright spot in my life for many of my years, come rain or come shine, but not necessarily:

Agreed. Let's just hope coach Kelly gets the best out of every player so we will never have to say things like this ever again.

Notre Dame is certainly in a spot now (as well as others) where outside forces have to act in order to have winning become reg. again. Or ND has to forget it's standards and go the way of the Bamas and SCs...

-The NCAA has to punish over signing or teams that do it have to come back to morality and stop... with oversigning how it is the teams that do it will not only continue to win, but the gap will only get wider... pretty silly to expect otherwise.

ND can win any given season when the tides come in just right, but the days of doing it every year consistently are over and done with in the current environment... and again, it's not just ND... any team playing with 20 some LESS kids over a 3-4 year span is not going to compete consistently with the teams that oversign at the levels we are now starting to see... It's only going to get worse.

I get it. You're a dual threat QB on Team Buzzkill.

Touchdown.

ok, i haven't posted much lately so heres my schtick, ND can and will win, believe it or not we can win at the level of the Bamas and the LSUs without sinking down to their level, if a team like Stanford can still go to BCS games then we should have no problem doing so. We get a stud QB, strong defense and great line play on both ends and we're in business. last time i checked we had all but one of those things. get this team a QB and i firmly believe we can win a championship. Call me the crazy dreamer, but once ND gets back on top, its gonna be damn hard to fall off the mountain because when the kids see a winning notre dame team, they're all gonna want to be part of the next great dynasty of this program.

last I checked The Cardinal isn't a year in and out contender... ND, Stanford and others can win any given year that everything goes right... but

My point is simple...

a team built from 110 plus of the best college players in a four year span will beat a team made with 80 of the best college players in a four year span 9/10...

I don't see any clean program winning consistently year to year with this stuff going on.

QB Buzzkill drop back... he bombs it deep!!!!....

*Aaron drops back, no receivers open. He's scrambling. Lynch gets off his block and pushes Aaron back in the middle. Here comes Tuitt off the right side, and a plunger AKA Irish Chocolate bearing down the middle. Aaron lobs it up for grabs... Interception! Tee Shep comes down with it. Irish win! Irish win!

ACamp I chuckled a bit with the "Never Give In..." user title.

I see where you are coming from, logically, but brother the heart wants what the heart wants. That goes on and off the field.

Before this bullshit "sarcasm" font, they were just italics.

Italics told a story in my writing.

All of this "sarcasm" font chaps my arse.

I agree wholeheartedly. I prefer the tried, true and traditional use of quotation marks to denote sarcasm if I feel there's a chance that it won't be easily and simply detected.

Italics have their own chore, their own place in written language.

If nothing else, the nuance is lost when one opts to use the "Quote" option to respond to any given post. The entire quoted section appears in italics so any individual italicized "sarcastic" segments are lost in electronic translation.

Perhaps a decided upon color or a shift to Comic Sans as a font would do the trick. I would prefer that readers comprehend intent without too many cues, but I understand that new and casual readers/posters might not be "in" on the jokes without a history lesson or a little help.

Composition 101 is now over. There will be a quiz covering this and previous topics next Wednesday.
