My only problem with this thinking is that once a player, esp. a QB, goes down this game playing path in recruiting, they tend to become like Dinty Moore Stew and be transfer happy and never come back to ND, always chasing something

It's kind of like, once you've gone through your first divorce, number 2, 3 and 4 are pretty easy peasy.

It was BKs great run from 2018-2021 that allowed Freemans personality and approach to come in and recruit well… then 2 bad/average seasons in a row due to poor coaching and recruiting is struggling

This is why it was hard for me to get excited about a QB commit from Mississippi. The odds were against them the entire time. The odds of him not transferring, even if he were to stay, probably weren’t great either.

I’d feel a bit better if ND allowed undergrad transfers. I imagine that’s going to change sooner than later though.

Yeah I think it's becoming clear at this point that recruiting is more a ND issue than a BK or Freeman issue

BK at some point during his tenure I'm sure saw the writing on the wall and probably became resigned to it and felt time/emphasis was better placed elsewhere

Probably after he got burned by the Darbys, Greenberrys, Lynchs, one too many times

Knew ND recruiting had its ceiling and needed to bounce to LSU if he ever wanted a chance at a championship

When I was there for the fantasy camp Chad Bowden spoke to us for an hour & was adamant that NIL was no issue for them & the biggest issue was that kids had to go to class.

So maybe they’ll step up.. but the question is how much are you willing to pay?

Chad Bowen was right. An elite athlete will take the easier path. I would think the only way we start winning these battles is to OVER pay for them.

My Auburn “friend” has been correct on every Auburn recruit/flip that happened in the last couple of weeks straight down to the actual day they announced. He said last week he’s 90% sure Deuce will flip and announce on Tuesday. I asked him again today and he said that nothing has changed that would make him change his mind about an announcement tomorrow. Guess we will see if he’s still batting 1.000 after tomorrow.
