I don’t know about his competition, but
he has great length and athleticism. That was fun to watch.

He plays in that DC league of private schools with DeMatha, Gonzaga, Bishop Mac, etc.

Good Counsel also played Moeller and lost 39-31 last season.

6 foot 7, eh? Yep...Marcus and the two Al's are putting together a group that will destroy QB and intramural basketball.

Just got around to watching his highlights. He’s my favorite edge of the bunch. I’m glad he’s getting on campus for an in-person early.

I like him too, I think he’s definitely a high upside kid. I do think I’d give the edge (no pun intended) to Mullins out of Georgia. Only because he looks great on film and one would think he’s playing a higher level of competition. But, I could be wrong.

Fast and 6-7. Mayo might make it onto the punt block team.

Mayo plays for Good Counsel out of MD. Same school that produced Mustipher, Cam Hart as well as Stefon Diggs, Kendall Fuller, Josh Paschal, and others. They play schools from all over the country. There aren't many schools playing higher competition than them.

Can’t argue much with that list!

So I just went back and rewatched the video. It must’ve been Mullins video that I was thinking of when I questioned the competition. Or it could’ve been someone else all together? Lol, I don’t remember now.

That size and athleticism jumps off the tape.
With so many dl on the board, I'd love to know how the staff ranks these guys. Great to set they've identified them before their ranking jumped. It'll be very interesting to see how this plays out and how many will commit this spring/ summer.

Does he grow out of DE? Trying to think of more recent comps when it comes to guys this tall at the position.

The dudes like Doug Atkins, Bubba Smith, Calais Campbell and Julius Peppers are exceptions and not the rule. If this guy ends up being another exception, that's a hell of a prize to whoever signs him and maybe eventually drafts him.

Going to take all OV’s in June. Which seems like that'll create a conclusion of sorts around that time.

Not that this applies to Mayo, but it seems to me the staff isn’t pushing as hard for commits now as they were last year and they’re waiting for the June OV window.

I wonder how much of that is due to the staff turnover (on offense anyway). But also after last year's experience, waiting seems wise. Having soft early commits who keep looking around, or who get picked off by NIL offers, creates a lot of negative headlines and the perception of a class that's "falling." I think you want guys locked down before the season starts, but summer is fine.
