Very excited to see who we get.

Realistically though, where would you rank this job among all ACC jobs? I legitimately think it’s a bottom 3 or 4 job in the conference.
I don’t see it that way at all.

Easily above the following: Wake, Clemson, BC, Pitt, GTech, VT

Arguably better than or equal: FSU, Miami, NCSt

Not better than: Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Virginia

ND MBB is a middle of the pack ACC basketball job. Nothing more, nothing less. Expectation is to make March Madness every year.

Personally, I think it’s easier to build a winner in this age at every school besides BC and Pitt and probably VT. I think on par with Wake and GT.

Idk about that low, but probably bottom half. Duke, UNC, UVA, Louisville, and Syracuse (if Jim ever leaves) are all better jobs. I don't see too much of a difference between ND and the rest of them, though. Somewhere in the group of FSU, NC State, Wake, Clemson, Miami, Virginia Tech, with potential to reach the top of that group with the right coach.

Never liked Brey. I live within walking distance of Hinkle field house, and I’m telling you that if butler can make championship games, there is no excuse for Notre Dame basketball not to be able to. That’s the bar, imo, and Brey has has never been close
I’m not saying ND will never win a championship but to say making the championship game is the bar then idk what you are smoking.

Our first ever one and done was last year with Wesley. With NiL too idk how you think we field a championship team anytime soon

Sean Sweeney apparently has an NIL plan for ND, according to Prister. Seems like a guy that would give his all and then some to ND. Hopefully he can coach.

mike krzyzewski disagrees with you and I trust his opinion way more than yours. Thanks coach Brey for an amazing career. Many of the teams you coached were a joy to watch.

If UVA can be good, so can ND. Let's get a good coach, and see what happens. Who are some young up and comers that may get looked at? I know it's impossible, but I've always wanted Tony Bennett or Jay Wright at ND.

Good run Mike Brey. . . Now, let's land a high caliber coach to take us to a new level

It's so strange that this is something I wanted to happen, and needs to happen, yet I'm saddened by it. I'll look back on the Brey years fondly, even with the stink of the past five.

From the early Chris Thomas and Torin Francis days, all the way way to the bitter end, there were certainly some lows, but also a lot of fun moments. Those Elite Eight runs were an absolute joy.
Those two weeks for the 2014-2015 team were some of most fun i've ever had watching a sports team. They played great team basketball.
Back to back wins over Duke & UNC in Greensboro for the ACC Tournament Title, and then the awesome run that led to the heartbreak in the Elite 8 vs undefeated Kentucky.

That team had so many awesome personalities on it, and just all around great kids.
Will cherish those two elite eight runs forever.
Hopefully the new coach can get this program back to those highs soon.

Thanks for the memories Coach!

There isn't a snowball's chance in Florida Notre Dame even considers Rick Pitino. Tom Noie is stupid to even put him on the list.

Sean Sweeney would be a good time. Monty Williams and Chris Quinn probably aren't leaving the NBA. Quinn should be on the doorstep of being an NBA HC himself.

I mean if Sean Sweeny couldn’t get hired to be an assistant coach for this team in the off season, how’s he gonna be considered to be the head coach?

I was thinking the same, but maybe Sweeny decided the outlook wasn’t good this year and would harm the dream of being head coach.

He also interviewed for the head coaching job with the Jazz and the Hornets. All the article says is that the assistant coaching job eventually went to Tibbs, not that Sweeney failed his interview or anything. For all we know, he pulled out thinking he could get a better job or he wanted a different level of responsibility than Brey was offering.
