Don't see Wimbush handling the road environment at a real opponent very well. I think we get outcoached again and us being favorites certainly isn't going to sit well with the MSU players. Also they had an extra week of practice/rest.

I think the Defense does a good job. Our running game does well. However BW throws for a TD but has 2 turnovers.

In 2012 I picked ND to get destroyed in every reg season game... even though the luck hasn't held I've stayed with the ritual these past years as well... in case anyone like 1014 wonders... plus I'm just goofy and find if I psych myself out of every game it's more enjoyable.


Plus, ND is hot garbage and has no chance this weekend.... who are we playing again?

Since Fox has gotten Gus Johnson and prime time games, it's been a small goal of mine to hear GJ go bananas during an ND game in which they win.

IIRC, we have yet to win a game covered by Fox and GJ. Saturday is that time:

Losing close games is the hallmark of a Brian Kelly team. We lose by 3 and Kelly corrects a reporter saying we didn't lose by a possesion but rather a field goal and storms out of the press conference after blaming Justin Yoon for the loss. Ndnation has a syncopal episode from this and irishenvy posters state the game shows progress and we need to trust BK and give him more time.

MSU's D-Line was trash last year, and it's trash this year. If Wimbush feels untouched in the pocket, I predict he'll start to throw like he did in practice when he actually WAS untouched.

Now to the game:

I have been red hot this season but I advise you now not to wager any $ you've earned on your paper route, collecting cans or mowing lawns on my guess this week because I have no real sense of what's gonna happen.

My brain says ND covers but I'd really like a -3.5 instead. My beaten into submission, scaredy cat - IE soul says MSU is the real -4. So the best I can do is split the difference and make the same play as I did for UGA, ND wins - doesn't cover - and take the under.

With any luck, the Irish win 3-0 on a Yoon FG in the 2nd qtr so as to keep hyper Gus and his UFC knockoff style to a minimum.

If you think Wimbush sucks and always will, just wait till you get a load of Sparty QB Brian Lewerke. While BW was inaccurately throwing the ball high, low, wide and into the stands at a 72% completion rate against one of the best HS schedules in the country, Lewerke was earning a P5 scholarship at the next school district up from Casa Cruzado with his pin point 49% accuracy.

Going to learn a lot about this team. Mediocre offense (arguably the best they've played depending on what you think of Georgia) but proficient, technically sound defense. Coming off a bye like the bunch of bitches they are.

I need to see the defense play a lot better than they did last week. That performance against BC was actually dreadful. 400 yards and 20 points to a team that hasn't done that against an ACC opponent in YEARS.

I need to see the coaches call a better passing game. No more stupid shallow crosses and perimeter screens. Vertical passes with a check down.

I need to see Wimbush throw on time and with accuracy... I need to see the WRs not suck balls.

I need to see the OL open up holes for 250+ yards on the ground against a team that's built to stop the run.

Check all those boxes and we're looking at 9/10 wins.

If he doesn't benefit from the shot of confidence the BC game should've given him, then MSU wins by the three-point margin at 17-14, and we're all spending Saturday night and Sunday morning discussing if BK should be fired ASAP, or if he should ride out the season.

See this is what gets me. Clearly we have a par to subpar opponent who is going to lose a lot of games this year and the talk is IF ND does it right they will win by 3. Then the next topic is people saying ND can win 9 games or even remotely talking as if ND belonged anywhere in the big time CFB university.

Do you realize what Bama, Clemson or FSU would do to MSU? It would be over at halftime by not a nice picture. Yet MAYBE if ND does it right, they MAY squeak out with a 3 pt win.

And to think people waste time remotely pondering NDs chances of returning to CFB prominence. Really?
