From the GR area and to be honest I was hoping this would fade. Not to say he can’t be solid, but if you follow the history of GR football recruits in the past 20 years they’re pretty garbage lol. Yes there are a select few who have done very well, but in most cases they are insanely overrated or are ranked very low for a reason. I feel like GR products rarely ever pan out. I watched them play vs my hometown Rockford and I really didnt notice him making a huge differnece out there. This is vs some 240 pound OL as well. I’d love to see some local talent at ND, but I’d be willing to bet he busts. It’s the norm with this area in my opinion.

ND is no longer recruiting Mazi according to multiple sources.

Had a quick discussion with a mod on ISD last night that confirmed it again.

I think this one lost steam when the staff decided to stay in contact with Rodas Johnson instead.

It does seem that way. However, last night with the Nana news, I was wondering if we'd even take Rodas Johnson at this point. With Cross now on board, he essentially fits the bill of swing DL that could play both SDE and 3T, so do we want another guy like that in Johnson. Ideally, I think we'd want to get a couple pure DE's. I'd rather see the staff go with a grouping of (3-4) Ojabo, DiCosmo, Nana, Ellison, Etinosa Rebuen, Isaac Townsend, MJ Anderson, Ty Robinson, etc.

Now, whether that is realistic or not, I can't say for certain. But, if we get Nana, this month, I'd be patient with that group first. JMO.

It's nice to have the local prosecutor with "Go Blue!" in his Twitter bio when you're a really important player and get arrested for gun charges.

Yeah we were talking about that in the "All Things Skunkbear" thread.

Do you think that anyone on this board who was pulled over doing 53 in a 25 mph zone, with no license, no CPL and a gun with over 70 rounds of ammunition would be going to work the next day, let alone being released and getting on an airplane to travel to Bloomington for a 3:30 game the next day? Completely absurd.

I'm not saying this guy deserves to get kicked off the team or anything but this certainly warranted a suspension of some kind. The timing of all of this is completely suspect, and the fact that this all came to light after Harbaugh gaslighted those 7 or 8 students on MSU's team for the tunnel incident just makes him look like even more of a clown.

Warde Manual being completely mum on this issue is a joke.

It's hard for me to be too upset here when many states, including several that border Michigan, have constitutional carry where the gun thing wouldn't even be noted. Speeding isn't great but it's Michigan --- going 20+ over is a way of life. Most ignored speed limits of any state I've been to. Not carrying his driver's license is barely an afterthought, typically just a warning or a minor citation if you actually have one and just didn't have it on you.

If it was 75 in a 55 then sure… no one would really give a shit. But 53 in 25 here in Virginia would be reckless driving and probably (rightfully) land you in jail.

I get what you’re saying, but I do not think we should trivialize the fact that was he did was a felony and he’s being treated different because of corruption.

Football aside, "Speeding" 20+ on a freeway is one thing (90 in a 70). Going twice the speed limit in a residential 25mph zone is completely reckless and stupid. No chance you're stopping your vehicle on time if a child or a dog runs out in front of your vehicle.

That's just a weird argument "everyone speeds." Do you typically go twice the speed limit in a 25 zone?

Two captains basically processed off the team mid-season and a third arrested on gun and reckless driving charges. Go Blue.

I don't, but I did a ride along with a cop in Michigan once. He ran the radar in a school zone and only pulled over people going 2x or more the speed limit. We never needed to wait more than a minute before the next person lit up the radar. Everyone speeds everywhere in Michigan and the cops mostly let it go so they can pull over whomever they want without needing to justify it some other way.

@IrishLax Virginia has a radically different attitude towards speed enforcement than Michigan. There are a lot of places where you'll get run down going less than 20 over, and not just on freeways. I'm not saying it's justified, but I am saying that in the context of the state's driving and enforcement culture, this doesn't seem like a big deal.

Regarding the gun thing, marijuana possession is a felony in some places and completely legal in others. Absent a documented intent to commit violence, all I hear regarding the gun thing is a minor paperwork issue.

All I know is this treatment is bullshit when compared to what happened to the Focus Five at ND with a little weed and a lot less ammo.
