‘Ohio State Is Definitely On Top’.............The top sophomore offensive lineman in the state of Ohio attended the Ohio State spring game on Saturday and there is no doubt the Buckeyes hold the lead for his services.

urban's going to be too hard to beat out in the end for this one...could be over sooner rather than later too.

If all stays true, we are full for this class. How many OL commits will we take next year? I still think it would have to be a minimum of 3 right?

If there's a school in Ohio that could be considered a pipeline to Notre Dame, St. Ignatius would have a pretty good argument to be that school.

St. Ignatius is a great football school but it isn't exactly a pipeline of talent. Great teams (11 state championships and counting) but not many great players who go on to play D1 football. I mean, yeah, compared to most schools, but St. Ignatius doesn't really crank out 4-star guys. I think Byrne is the first 4-star since Mark Myers (Pitt QB) and then Dan Fox before him. St. Ignatius's football success is more a product of unbelievable coaching by Chuck Kyle (one of the best of all time) and great team play than great players.

But it's still not bad to have a presence at arguably the top football program in a key state.

anymore college coaches like to recruit kids from great programs...with the hope that the success they had carries over to the next level and kind of filters down to the rest...sure you'll take a stud that's from a mediocre program, but if you couple great skills with football tradition and winning....that's a double whammy!!

apparently has a top 3 according to rivals.

Byrne narrows his focus to three

my guess:

urban
notre dame
illinois

in that order, even if he doesn't come out and say it.

pOSU, Michigan and ND. It would seem pOSU has an advantage considering ND's and UM's OL haul this year.

Here's a portion of an interview with Jimmy that elevenwarriors published on 6/29/12. Follow the link to view the whole interview.

Are there any schools beginning to stick out for you?

I do not have a final group as of now. Other schools can jump into the mix still at this point. I would say I am focusing on Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and West Virginia currently though.

Do you have any idea on when you would like to make your college choice?

I do not have any set timetable or anything like that. I just know I would like to end my recruitment before my senior season.

^^^I don't think OL care too much about who a school got in their previous cycle IMO. There are 5 positions on the line compared to 1 QB or 2 RB or 3 WR. Plus you are more likely to sit your freshman year to develop your body to play D1 college unless you are Top5 elite material. You can easily jump a lineman who is one year ahead of you if you are better.

this would be really nice pickup for us if we were able to real him in...we've struggled in NE ohio the past few years and there's a ton of talent in that part of the state that's been dominated by urban and ann arbor...fox is the only guy on our roster from the area.

ANT is he all Buckeye?
I'll say so.

edit: Let me clarify. If you see my first post on this page, I'd say that tOSU has cooled on him. At that time it was true, but the coaches have apparently put some effort into recruiting him again lately, and tOSU is firmly on top of his list now.
