'14 MD WR Freddy Canteen (Notre Dame Graduate Transfer)

Kid is a master of getting everything out of football without going pro. Michigan, Notre Dame, and Tulane without paying a dime. Good for him.

Good taste in schools Dr Canteen.

No doubt, he's set after football. He graduated from Michigan in less than 3 years with an English degree, no small feat.

Curious what his major was at ND and will be at Tulane. Either way, impressive to put those 3 institutions on your resume.

Fate sure can be fickle. It wasn't meant to be Freddy.

I have to assume that he will hang them up after yet another unfortunate occurrence, but just out of curiosity, he would still be eligible to apply for a medical and play next season if he wanted, correct?

He could apply for it (I assume)... But is it worth the risk? At this point would he even be able to take a tackle with that shoulder?

Correct. I'm guessing the NCAA would grant that if he wanted to pursue that. It would involve granting him a 6th year waiver.

I suppose that he could even try to get a 7th year waiver and still play two more years since he's only used two years (2014 and 2015) if they gave him a medical redshirt in 2017. There have only been a handful of 7th year waivers that have ever been granted.

Might be worth it if he's actually using football to get an education he will use. If he's doing this just because he thinks he has a shot at a FB career, then no.

Really feel bad for the kid

Shoot, he may as well keep playing then. By the time he actually plays two "healthy" seasons, he can put "Dr. Canteen" as his name on the back of his jersey.
