Clemson/FSU postponed. Great news for us. Hope they play the same weekend we have Wake.

Rece Davis (essentially) said Clemson wanted play (obviously, considering they traveled) and FSU flaked out.

Time to relegate FSU out of Power 5.

Weird read. No further info about how many positive cases either side had currently. They both have an open date on 12/12 and if this game isn't rescheduled for that week, ND should 100% protest playing wake emphatically. Not just speak up and then take their medicine like the vacating wins fiasco.

Either way, this should be good for ND.

If it truly was FSU being pusses then idk if I want ND getting an advantage here. Not fair for Clemson. I want ND passing them fair and square.

Sounds like a Clemson player had symptoms all week but tested negative by Clemson. When a 3rd party tested him Friday it came back positive. FSU medical staff wasn’t comfortable going forward. Not sure how that is giving ND an advantage. Seems par for the course regarding 2020.

The unequal preparation time with a high percentage of game cancellations and a natural replacement for wake highlighted the 12/12 date. Now either both teams are playing a week before - still advantage Clemson as FSU is a dumpster fire and Wake has a legit offense - or both should have byes (why should ND happily play the rescheduled wake game if Clemson/FSU, without any commitments on 12/12, isn’t rescheduled the same day?)

Agreed it should be fair. Good for ND in the sense of today’s decision, seemingly for questionable reasons as it currently stands, allows more fairness to prep for ACC C on 12/19 is all.

Because instead of Clemson getting a bye before the Conference Championship when Notre Dame plays wake on Dec 12, they now should have to play FSU. This is huge for us, as we won’t play a fresh Clemson team who had two weeks to game plan for us anymore.

I understand and brought this up in an earlier post. I think that just makes things fair and not an advantage as the post I quoted was referring to.

Agree the situation will either be fair (if both teams play a rescheduled game as stated in the preseason rules by the ACC) or advantage Clemson (let them skip a game where ND had to reschedule). There is no advantage to ND.

Feldman reported that one Tiger that traveled w/ the team tested positive and FSU was uncomfortable with the threat of spread.

The advantage ND is discussed above. Both teams will either be playing or be off. Prior to this sudden cancellation, it was a stark advantage Clemson. Therefore future neutrality is a gain for ND.

ND has an influential AD. Savvy Jack can add to his list of accomplishments his role in keeping a September start for football across the ACC where he has received unilateral praise.

Cooler heads will prevail. It will be a bad look for all involved if it’s not fairly ironed out leaving all this consternation as message board fodder only.

Is any team above manipulating contact tracing to cancel a game that doesn’t give them a level playing field w/ their competitors?
